Will Iron Man 2 Have a Secret J.J. Abrams Film Trailer Attached to Prints?

Several news outlets are reporting that a film called Super 8 will be unveiled before this week's US showings of Iron Man 2...

Back in the summer of 2007, moviegoers who went to see the blockbuster hit Transformers were baffled by a mysterious trailer attached to the film which featured only a glimpse of some mysterious footage and a release date. This later turned out to be the first trailer for the J.J. Abrams-produced film Cloverfield. Three years later, it seems that Abrams is up to his old tricks again and, according to Hitfix, we will see another mysterious trailer for a secret J.J. Abrams film attached to prints of Iron Man 2 this weekend!

It was reported last week that Abrams and Steven Spielberg were collaborating on a new film project, but the site believes the trailer will not be for this. Instead, they are reporting that the film is being called Super 8 and it is "rumored to be a Cloverfield sequel," although it was believed that Abrams would not be directing this film himself. Strict security measures are already being taken to ensure the trailer isn't leaked before the film's release. Here's an image of an instructional letter given to theater owners for this weekend's Iron Man 2, which reveals that the reel with the trailers won't even be unlocked until Thursday afternoon.

Little else is known about this project, and we'll have to wait until Iron Man 2 opens to find out more. We'll be sure to keep you posted on this mysterious project if more information arises!

Iron Man 2 hits cinemas in the US on Friday and is out now in the UK!

I loved Cloverfield but a sequel would be sort of pointless unless they it shows a different perspective preferably one when the people live that is the only thing I don't like about movies that are in the view of a video camera is that the people always die.

I wouldn't mind another cloverfield... if and only if they don't use hand helds, the whole move. Maybe they could make a transition like D9

Yeah I'd go 3/5 too. Had its moments but those [frick]ing characters were too annoying to live anyway. I hope its a Lost movie!!

Interesting. I didn't find Cloverfield to be spectacular but it was a decent film that filled my monster movie void quite well (though not as well as The Host). I wonder what this is, though.

CF wasn't "bad" but it just wasn't good IMO.

The acting was pretty lame, except I did like Lizzy Caplan for the time she was in the movie.
The characters were dull and boring.
I wasn't keen on the monster's design (though I admit, the lungs on its head were pretty cool).
The shaky cam annoyed me.
And it just simply didn't excite me or thrill me.

It was just...meh...IMO.

Nice call Ror, if it's a Lost movie that would be awesome! I can't see how they are going to wrap this show up in 3 episodes without it being disappointing.

Cloverfield was decent, I liked the perspective, something revolving around that movie would be cool too.

@California

I think its weird that the last can of the film has the First, Last and Trailer Reels on it. Ive never seen that before. i think its a coincidence that the last reels is locked and its the one with the after credits scene.

There is a comment on the comingsoon.net post where a guy says he thinks its a different after credits scene for the US.

The Trailers before IM2, here in Mexico were: (not in order)

-Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

-Resident Evil:Afterlife (3D)

-damn i can´t remember which else.. but no, no "Super 8" kind of thing

@ sirjedi

thats because the article clearly says that this trailer would be for the AMERICAN release of IM2.

I look forward to a Cloverfield sequel! I remember reading somewhere that the monster was actually an infant and that the mama was gonna come cranky..looking for her kid. If that is the case, you know the action and all-out destruction is going to be multiplied. Heck..i'd settle for a Cloverfield prequel even..so long as JJ is involved!

ReillyParker

Hey just for the record the reason why the reel is locked isn't cause of the trailer, it's cause Paramount doesn't want the theaters to show any other screenings to the movies until the midnight show. I used to work at a movie theater and the real for the first Iron Man, Dark Knight, and pretty much most of the summer blockbusters came locked.

That being said, as much as I love Abbrams, Cloverfield never really interested me. Sequel won't either.

Again I say...( CLOVERFIELD SPOILER ALERT!!).you don't know if that guy and his girl are really dead. They could have found some way to escape. But that is for part 3.
