With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fast approaching, we have some new stills from the movie that put the spotlight on some key moments and a character we've seen very little of before now. That is Fala Chen's Jing Li, a character it's thought is, in fact, Shang-Chi's mother.
Li and Wenwu clearly have some sort of connection when it comes to the Ten Rings, while Xialing (the title hero's sister?) can also be seen highlighted alongside Shang-Chi, Katy, and others.
The world premiere of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings takes place tomorrow evening, so we're anticipating the first reactions to the movie going live shortly after the event wraps up. Those are going to be extremely interesting, especially as this looks like a welcome departure from the norm for Marvel Studios (needless to say, we'll bring you those early takes as soon as they go live).
"Marvel Studios' 'Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings' stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization," reads a brief synopsis shared by Marvel Studios a couple of months ago.
The movie also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by David Callahan, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham the movie is currently set to be released exclusively in theaters on September 3, 2021.
