SHAZAM! - Geoff Johns to Co-write New Movie

According to "Variety," DC Comics powerhouse Geoff Johns will co-write (and consult) with writer Bill Birch on a new draft of the movie "Shazam!," which is still supposed to be directed by "Get Smart's" Peter Segal.

Offers "Variety," "Segal and [producer Michael] Ewing began working on the film three years ago at New Line before it moved over to Warners. Pic centers on teenaged Billy Batson, who transforms into the superhero when he says the word 'Shazam!' The studio is now looking to go back to the original DC Comics source material for inspiration. Previous drafts have been penned by John August, William Goldman, Bryan Goluboff, and, the team of Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow." No release date has been suggested at this point.

This is a dicey movie to pull off now days with the kid becoming a grown man but they did it with Tom Hanks and "BIG". I sure wouldn't want to try to write this or make this into a movie!

They do NOT look alike at all!!! An ROCK looks nothing like CAPTAIN MARVEL! It would totally mess up an F' the movie!

If he had both parts, it'll turn into a crappy DISNEY TYPE crappy witch mountain movie!

Yeah, you're right about the Disney thing...Wharburton to me has always been Captain Marvel...He's perfect and I liked him as the tick too but the writing on that show was not as good as the cartoon...but Cap Marvel he is!

Yeah its a pity about THE TICK, it wasn't as good as the cartoon writing your right, but it was so much better than a lot of the sit-com's that have endless seasons, not fair dammit lol. It was a classy an funny show!

I'm with you Teabag, if anybody DOES research, Black Adam is supposed to be identical to Captain Marvel aside from Spock Ears and Brows. So i vote for The Rock playing both roles! With the right people making the feature, it could add alot of depth having him as the hero and villain. They would have to stay away from the cornyness of what was Double Impact and Twin Dragons though. Michael Keaton did it brilliantly in Multiplicity so i don't see a problem. The Rock needs this chance to prove himself and Captain Marvel needs The Rock's fanbase to sell tickets.

He has become such a good actor that I think he can do both rolls like in duplicity as you said...with the CGI & effex they have now days I think they could pull it off! Brilliant marketing idea with Dwayne Johnson!

An' @Tea, what in the love of Sanity is that thing! Izzat a Swiss Army knife on there...That guy don't look like he's from the Swiss Army! I can't stop laughing...I mean call a doctor because I can't!

I liked Warburton for Cap Marvel when he was younger but he's too old now! He's still perfect for Tick tho! Like Shaman said if you do your research you'll see that Cap and Black Adam looked alike except for the pointy ears. Didn't you think duplicity was OK with someone playing multiple rolls?... 'cause I did!
