SHAZAM Director David F. Sandberg Announces That The Movie Has Officially Begun Pre-Production

David F. Sandberg has taken to social media to reveal that work on Shazam has officially begun but do the photos he's shared reveal anything about the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation? Well...

The original plan was for a Shazam movie to be released featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Black Adam. Somewhere along the line, that changed, and the villain was given his own movie. At the time, most of us thought that meant Shazam had been put on the shelf for a while but the movie is happening even sooner than we thought and pre-production has officially begun on the DC movie.

David F. Sandberg is going to direct the project and he's taken to Instagram to confirm that work has now begun. Unfortunately, the photos below don't reveal anything beyond the fact he saves his Coke cans while working on a movie! With no confirmed release date, that stack could grow and grow.

Chances are it will be released in 2019, though, and casting is expected to begin soon. The filmmaker has already revealed that he intends on casting separate actors as Shazam and Billy Batson but with Black Adam not expected to appear, we have no idea who the hero will be squaring off with in the movie. We'll be sure to keep you updated on that front but feel free to share your thoughts below.

Day 2. On this movie I might get to the ceiling. Or the hospital.
