Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives in theaters next Friday, and while there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the title character's future in the new DCU, those social media reactions have definitely increased excitement.

While it doesn't sound like the Shazam! sequel necessarily reinvents the wheel, it's been described as a more ambitious movie than its predecessor and one that, if nothing else, is a lot of fun. Whether that will be enough to boost those dismal opening weekend projections is another matter altogether, and it could end up being a well-reviewed flop.

We'll be sticking around through the credits regardless as a fan who caught an early screening in London has confirmed there are two post-credits scenes in total.

It sounds like the stingers might tease what comes next for Shazam, and while James Gunn has also praised the movie, no decisions about the Big Red Cheese's role in the DCU have been made yet. However, with Henry Cavill, Dwayne Johnson, and possibly even Gal Gadot all ousted, we're not holding out hope that Zachary Levi is asked to stick around...

Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy - aka Shazam - and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.

The sequel's cast includes Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary.

Djimon Hounsou returns as the Wizard, while Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren have all joined the movie as newly created villains.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on March 17, 2023.
