With
Shazam! exceeding expectations at the box office, it looks like Warner Bros. is already making moves to get a sequel into development.
David F. Sandberg recently said he'd be happy to return to the director's chair while implying that tentative plans for another film were already in place, and now
The Wrap reports that writer Henry Gayden has been hired to pen the sequel's script. Although we don't have full confirmation that Sandberg is on board, he and producer Peter Safran are also expected to return.
The first movie set up plenty of potential plot points for a follow-up, with the late introduction of The Marvel Family, a certain superhero cameo and a mysterious villain tease right at the end. There's also a good chance that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam will be involved in some capacity.
