Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg wasn't actually on set for a certain character's cameo, and helmed their sequence remotely from a different country. Check out some BTS footage...

The whole "Fake Wonder Woman" thing led to some confusion about Gal Gadot's involvement with Shazam! Fury of the Gods, with some people seemingly under the impression that a "deepfake" was used for Diana's cameo appearance towards the end of the movie.

Director David F. Sandberg has now made it very clear that Gadot was on set to film her scene - even if he wasn't!

Sandberg wasn't able to make it to England because of a Visa issue, so helmed the sequence remotely. You can check out some behind-the-scenes footage of him working from monitors below.

"I was surprised how well it went directing remotely," he added, "but when I told (wife and collaborator) Lotta Losten about it she said 'just don’t think you can direct everything this way now.' I would never though. I love being on set. And you can’t be a unicorn eyeline if you’re not on set."

Fury of the Gods hasn't been performing as well as expected (to say the least) at the box office, so a third movie seems highly unlikely. Even if James Gunn and Peter Safran do decide to keep the franchise going, Sandberg has already stated that he plans to take a "break from superheroes."

I can’t imagine directing like that. That’s frustrating to not be there.

@micvalpro - it’s easy, that’s how I watched it. By not being there. And no, I haven’t watched it.

@TheWalkingCuban - then I guess you can have no opinion on it then.

@philinterrupted - but if by some bootstrap paradox, another me watched it, disrupting the time loop, then I will have an opinion, without watching it, which explains most of us here😄

Shazam, NO!

I am a bit confused. The audience score for Shazam is a pretty good 87%. But there are only about 1000 "verified" users. Is that normal for the verified number to be so low?

@Forthas - Audience scores dont make sense
Forthas

@TheHumanSpider2 - I disagree. if there are a large number of them, I think they are the most accurate measure of general audience view. But if it is a small number, it is suspect because. For a VERY large number of respondents, it is hard to change the results. But with only 1000 responses a studio could literally have all their employees hike up the score.

@Forthas - I liked it. I’ve talked to a lot of people that did as well.

Why can’t there be people that are on either side of the fence. It doesn’t invalidate anybodies opinion.
Forthas
Forthas - 3/23/2023, 6:29 PM
@philinterrupted - I don't care whether someone likes the film or not. What I do care about are people or organizations that use the metrics that people utlize to gauge the public opinion against their own and skew them to make their own opinions seem like they are representative of the majority of people.
philinterrupted
philinterrupted - 3/23/2023, 11:57 PM
@Forthas - based off what you just said, you do care. You’re claiming that the score is erroneous because you don’t like the result.

NO...I look at several indicators, RT Critic Score, Cinema score, box office and RT audience score. When one of these seems too high or too low compared to the others then I look into why it is that way. The critic score is divided, the Cinema score is soft, the box office is weak, but somehow the RT Audience score is near 90%. Something does not seem right.

@Forthas - I just go by, did I see it, how do I feel.

If it bothers you, stop putting so much weight in aggregators.

Just watch the thing and decide for yourself.

Everybody is always ready to tell someone else their opinion is wrong.

Directing from home. Working world has really gone mostly remote

'HOW NOT TO MARKET A MOVIE - THE MAKING AND BOMBING OF SHAZAM 2.' Lol

This is just adding to the list of how they shouldn't have promoted this. Lol. Its actually worse than how they did BLACK ADAM. Eh at least this movie was better

A lot of folks on here have a weird perception on the concept of remote work. We live in a time period where we can move from point A to point B or stay in one location and get a job done without having to be trapped in one location for hours working on a project. Imagine being able to film a scene and edit it in the comfort of your trailer with coffee, a bath robe, and some good music playing while you work in total relaxation. That's where we have gotten as a society. But people still have this perception that it's the end of the world. Statistics have shown a high percentage of employees happier, calling out less, and being more productive while working from home or wherever they are.

@SonOfAGif - I had a remote customer service job for a year and it was the best. I was actually a lot more productive and enjoyed working more as well. I am back in office now but if I can get another remote work, I'm jumping right away lol!

@SonOfAGif - One of the best things about working from home? No wasted time in commute every day! For a lot of people that's on average an hour to go and then another to come back.

Over a week for five working days, that's TEN HOURS saved right there! And then there's cost involved too, not just fuel but also parking space AND office space. Some of it helps the company but not every company gives you free parking space or transport expenses covered perks.

SonOfAGif - 3/24/2023, 1:11 AM
@TheOtherOn - All excellent points. This is why I don't understand the logic people have being against a work from home concept. Or at the very least a hybrid concept.

It’s actually crazy how much I hate this movie. There are worse comic book movies sure (Catwoman or Elektra for example) but they came out before this superhero craze really started.

This is the worst movie of the modern era. Worse than Morbius. Morbius was by the numbers but still had something interesting about it- maybe it was just the Keaton cameo? Idk but I didn’t hate Morbius as much as I hate this movie.

This is probably the most generic superhero movie ever made. David Sandberg is a [frick]ing hack. Like cool dude you get on Reddit and talk to fans. Maybe if you did it more you’d be more in touch with what they actually wanted to see. Those involved need to take the critiques to heart and apologize because this is a bad bad movie. Imagine spending 200+ million on this movie (including marketing) and it turns out like this. It’s so sad what that money could’ve actually been spent on. So sad.

@RichardGrayson - venom 2, morbius, thor 4, black widow, bp2's story (visuals were pretty good this time), captain marvel, birds of prey and the first iteration of JL were all dreadful films that would have been better suited to never be released.

I agree its very generic, i hated how weak Shazam seemed as well as how strong at other points - and how absolutely retarded they made him to fit in a plot point(tossing the staff to freddie)

But the story had some heart and the visuals were OK, better than BP1. I personally think levi was the worst part of the film as he seemed to be phoning it in - compared to the first film where he where he was fantastic.

Far from the worst CBM ever.

@RichardGrayson - it had some moments so i dont think it's that bad.

The bridge scene for example was better executed than nwh where all of a sudden, the people disappeared.

Maybe it just lacked the big name characters (ww cameo doesnt count) that's why it did not resonate with the GA.
