In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.
That Hashtag Show has been throwing a lot of rumors at the wall to see what sticks lately, and this latest one is bound to grab the attention of Spider-Man fans.
Sony Pictures pulled the plug on Silver & Black, which was set to feature both Silver Sable and Black Cat, with it later being reported that solo outings for both characters were in the works. For Felicia Hardy, it's said the latest version of her film's screenplay has been penned by "a small indie writer-director," though rewrites are reportedly taking place as we speak.
This origin story will follow Felicia's time working alongside her father, Walter Hardy, and his disappearance leads to Black Cat crossing paths with Chameleon (the lead villains) and Blaze.
The site cautions that some fans may be upset about changes that will be made to Felicia's origin, but don't elaborate on what they might be. On the plus side, they go on to report that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Felicity Jones is being eyed for the title role in Black Cat, but this Felicia won't be the same one she brought to the screen in 2014. For Walter, Sony wants a "Sam Elliot-type."
Take all of this with a pinch of salt, but Black Cat's big screen debut is long overdue. It's just a great shame that Felicia probably won't get the chance to share the screen with Spider-Man.
