MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE Logline And Casting Details Revealed

It seems as if Morbius the Living Vampire will be the next live-action character to enter Sony's "Spider-Verse" and now a logline for the spinoff has been revealed alongside some vague casting details.

While Sony Pictures may be happy working with Marvel Studios to restore Spider-Man to his beloved former self, the studio is also eager to capitalise on the other characters they acquired after buying the rights from Marvel Entertainment all those years ago. That's why Venom and Into the Spider-Verse are on their way this year, while Silver & Black and Morbius the Living Vampire remain in development. Now, some very interesting details about the latter project have surfaced via That Hashtag Show.

While we know that Lost in Space scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have been hired to pen the screenplay, it turns out that F. Gary Gray has already turned down the comic book adaptation.

While there's currently no news on who else the studio could be looking at to helm the project, we do know now that they're looking to cast a make of an unspecified race between the ages of 30 - 37 to play Morbius. A logline for the movie has also been revealed and it should make fans pretty happy.

"Horror action story of a scientist who, in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transformed himself into a living vampire who, though disgusted by his own bloodlust, chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life."

That sounds pretty close to the comic books, right? Whether or not Sony will stick to those plans to make this a horror movie remains to be seen, especially as everyone assumed that was the plan with Venom before it became clear that it was, in fact, just your typical PG-13 action movie. Are you excited for Morbius the Living Vampire? As always, share your thoughts on this news in the usual place.

@SonOfAGif - Unfortunately, that would only get rid of half of the crappy spin-offs Sony has in development.

Forget these dam spin offs and just put him in a Blade movie or show, like they were originally going to do for Blade 2, the ending of the first movie almost included him

@NOVAtheSUPA - Problem was Marvel and Sony said no, in case they wanted to use him in a Spiderman movie, which makes no sense considering Spiderman has a lot more well known villains. When it comes to Spiderman villain, Morbias is probably near the bottom of the list of villains likely to be used as villain in a movie

@dracula - well look on the bright side they saved morbius from trinity and we might get him and blade real soon in some way or another hopefully

Could be good. Just not a complete necessary solo movie. But hey, 1hr 30min wouldn't be that bad.

@TheRationalNerd - I don't wanna "wouldn't be that bad". We are coming off of the heels of Avengers Infinity War! Give the greatest possible CBM, or give the opportunity back to those who have mastered the art. My two cents...

Finally. This movie's been promised since about 1996/1997.

Probably will be shit, but who knows?, it could be awesome.

It s a good thing taht this is happening, though. It's been a long time coming and it would probably be an even longer time coming if it were with Disney all of a sudden.

01. Spider-Man needs to be in it.
02. Sony should seek Kevin Feige, and ask him to work on it with them, start a Spider-Man's own universe of films.
Maybe even let the creativity be by KF. Just look at how successful his MCU is and has become.
Be silly of SONY to not try to work with Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, in all honesty.

@Darlene1974 - ...I mean, they might as well just let this be the MCU then with all those stipulations.
BullyFU
BullyFU - 5/26/2018, 6:27 AM
@Darlene1974 - No need to mention Feige multiple times. You could just say let him handle it rather than listing a few ways for him to be in control. He's in charge of the MCU, they could push Marvel Studios to make a Morbius film. Feige isn't the be all end all of Marvel producers though. He doesn't need to be that involved.

Yes please with his loathing of his existence.

I mean out of all the stand alones they’re making, along with Venom, I believe that this actually could have a chance. Morbius has been portrayed as an anti-hero many a time in th comics, so it isn’t that far fetched to see him getting a movie based around him.
But yeah I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t rather him be under the MCU banner, whether fighting Spider-Man or more preferably Blade, maybe introduce him as a supporting character and then have him become a villain after he transforms himself.
As for casting? Adam Driver, I think he could pull this off pretty well!

Get Michael C Hall as Morbius!
Hell, they can even follow the odd story formula of Dexter as an example but with more extreme and stylized action.
