• Deleted Scenes and Alternate Takes

• Audio Commentaries with Cast and Crew

• The Oscorp Archives – Art and Promotional Materials Gallery

• Screen Tests

• Stunt Rehearsals

• Both 3D & 2D versions of the film

• Interactive 3D Film School with Director Marc Webb

• Collectible Amazing Spider-Man Figurine

• Collectible Lizard Figurine

Not a bad selection of special features there, although it's worth bearing in mind that these are subject to change, and probably just a very tentative list as of right now (after all, the film hasn't even been in theatres for a month). With any luck, those deleted scenes and alternate takes will deliver "The Untold Story" which we were promised, but didn't make it into the film. There has been speculation that Sony Pictures won't release the scene which features the Lizard murdering Doctor Ratha - as pieced together from numerous stills and snippets of footage from the trailers and TV spots - but we'll just have to wait and see. Perhaps the audio commentaries will shed some light on why so many cuts were made? Regardless, it was a solid reboot, although whether or not Marc Webb will (hopefully) return to helm the sequel is unknown. Be sure to check out my interview with Marc Webb HERE and click HERE to read my 4* review of The Amazing Spider-Man.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: Out Now.

this MOVIE WAS GOOD BUT IT HAS ITS BAD PARTS AND TERRIBLE SCENES,.. I WISH PETEY WOULDNT TAKE OFF HIS MASK SO MUCH AND SHOW HIMSELF TO THE HOLE WORLD.. AND I HATED THE WAY HE FOUND OUT HE HAD HIS POWERS IN THE TRAIN.. I WISH THERE WERE MORE FIGHTING SCENES AND NO STUPID 30 SEC SCENES WITH SPIDY JUST LOOKING AND WAITING FOR THE LIZARD

@TheBigBoss917 Why was the crane scene awkward? Unnecessary maybe, considering that there were buildings right there for Spidey to swing from, but awkward?

There's no need for an extended cut.

Newsarama's Top Ten Comic Book-Based Movies of All Time has The Amazing Spider-Man as the FOURTH film on that list, only behind Iron Man, The Avengers and the Chris Nolan Trilogy. People love this film, and the sequel will show that in spades.

One of the best CBMs and best Spider-Man film by far.

Suck it, Nolanites.

@TheMarvelite

Nolanites are just pissed off that TDKR sucked and while it is indeed making more money than TASM in the North America, it's underperforming, while TASM is performing like a successful reboot in the domestic box office and as a full blown blockbuster in the foreign markets. This is unprecedented in the story of any reboot.

Movie is brilliant, and Marc Webb is coming back. DC fanboys are delusional a-holes that bad mouth every Marvel property out of jealousy, nothing new in the front.
SoapDogg
SoapDogg - 8/1/2012, 7:19 PM
@iJackSparrow I completely agree with you! I don't understand why some people are so down on it. Especially people that haven't even seen the movie. I like the Raimi movies (well, Spider-Man 1&2 but that goes without saying) but this movie had so much more heart and personality then Raimi's films did and much better acting as well. I would like to see a Director's Cut though. DCs are always way better than the theatrical versions.

@TheMarvelite- Just because someone is a Spidey fan, doesn't mean they have to like everything Spidey-related. I'm a huge fan of the character, yet I hate One More Day. Does that mean I'm not a fan?

SoapDogg
SoapDogg - 8/1/2012, 7:29 PM
@CaptainObvious Yeah. One More Day should have been pretty disappointing for any Spidey fan. The idea was to get Spider-Man back to his roots and look where he's at now: living large, working for a fancy, schmancy lab, and Aunt May is rarely even seen in the stories anymore. Where are the Average Joe problems that Peter Parker used to have?
BlackAmerica
BlackAmerica - 8/1/2012, 7:31 PM
@ijacksparrow I don't believe Nolanites are disappointed with TDKR. Personally it is my new favorite movie. I'm not a Nolanite either. TASM was a very good film. I enjoyed it very much. My third favorite movie of the year. The Avenger my second favorite. if anything I'm a marvelite as I only read marvel comics, and besides Nolans batman trilogy I have really only enjoyed marvel comic films. DC has disappointed me so far except that trilogy.

Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) makes the 4th place of Newsarama's Best Comic Book-Based Films of ALL TIME. But what made me very happy was what they had to say about the film, and I couldn't agree more with:

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2012)

Studio: Sony. Director: Marc Webb. Stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone

What Makes It Great:

When it originally debuted on this list, it knocked Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" out of the Top 10 entirely. That may have seemed a little harsh at the time, but Raimi's "Spider-Mans" already weren't aging very well and Marc Webb's "Amazing Spider-Man" just accelerated the process to critical mass.

"Amazing" is superior to the original three Spidey features in every conceivable way - better lead actors, better supporting actors, better action and special effects, and yes, better origin story.

Fans complaining that 10 years was too soon to retell the origin might have to reevaluate when they realize "Amazing" tells a much better origin story. In fact, we here at Newsarama think "Amazing" tells the best Spider-Man origin story ever, and yes, we're including the comic books too [ducks, runs for cover.]

The retelling/remixing of origins is a tried and true comic book tradition. Not sure why "Amazing" is any different.

"Amazing Spider-Man" is cool, contemporary, and accessible. It gives comic book fans exactly what they want (the best-realized Spider-Man action yet, a path to more Spidey films in the future) and probably what they didn't know they needed (Garfield and Stone frankly mop the floor with Maguire and Dunst).

Stand-Out Scene:

Anything with Garfield and Stone together. Their chemistry is evident and Stone continues to emerge as one of the brightest, most dynamic and appealing young stars of her generation.

I wholeheartedly agree with this, and it's funny because I've said this before on different forum boards: The Amazing Spider-Man's origin story is better than any other origin story that Spider-Man ever had - comics, film or any other media-, and that's one of the film's greatest feats to me as a Spider-Man fan.

I dont know why there are not more people like me who just love CBM's in general, why do half these idiots have to divide it to Marvel vs DC? DC fans get one movie every 4 years, Marvel gets like 2 a year or so. I loved this movie, when someone can not provide intellectual reasons why it failed I write them off as jealous idiots. I'll be buying this asap

TDKR
Avengers
Iron Man
Batman Begins
Amazing Spider-man
TDK
Thor
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2 (effin loved this film back off!)
Captain America
And those are pretty much all ive liked. I respect but dont care for the supermans. didn't like GL, or the old Spiderman trilogy, the men's have left me disappointed. ff, ghost rider, daredevil just bad. Punisher and blade were decent. have to say comic book movies have gotten much better.

@TheIrishAvenger

I'm not looking for an argument. It's clear that those that are badmouthing this film to no end are the same ones trying to make a Marvel vs. DC war and taking all the fun out of these films. You are also a part of that, feeding this stupid wars. We are all on the same side here, but since we are all free to make these stupid arguments, I also want a TDKR extended cut. One where the movie doesn't suck monkey balls would be great.

A lot of people complain about reboots but won't bother to say shit about the billion other remakes and re-imaginings of old literature like Robin Hood and Snow White.
