Right after Emma Stone found out that she would be portraying Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb's reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, the internet and her Help co-star, Bryce Dallas Howard found out not too long after.

Apparently, Howard was just as keen as fanboys to discover who would be following her Spider-Man 3 performance as the ill-fated, first love interest of Peter Parker. "She was maybe the first person that came into my trailer. She banged on my door and said 'The internet is saying that you are Gwen Stacy'. And I had just found out," Emma told The Independent.

"They tell you that you're going to play Gwen Stacy and they say, 'It's going out in a minute and a half'. I had 90 seconds to go like this [she hyperventilates] and then it was all over the internet.

"So two minutes later, Bryce was like: 'Hi! Is this true?'"

Emma stated that the whirlwind of attention she's received following the casting announcement is something that excited her about the project.

"That kind of passion is one of the most fun reasons to be involved with something like Spider-Man," she added.

Emily Jean "Emma" Stone (born November 6, 1988) is an American actress. Stone was a cast member of the TV series Drive, and made her feature film debut in the comedy Superbad (2007). She appeared in The House Bunny (2008) and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009). She then starred in the horror-comedy Zombieland and the indie comedy Paper Man in 2009. In 2010, Stone voiced the character Mazie in Marmaduke, and starred in the high school comedy Easy A, which earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. She is slated to play Gwen Stacy in the Amazing Spider-Man film, a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise.

The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superhero film based on the comic book of the same name that is currently in post-production. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the first film in a rebooted Spider-Man film franchise. The film is being directed by Marc Webb. The cast includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The film will portray Peter Parker as he is developing his super powers in high school. It is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012
