Three days ago, I posted a poll listing all of the likely candidates who are seemingly in the running to play Spider-Man in the 2012 reboot in order to get an idea about which of those actors the users of CBM most want to see in the role. I've kept an eye on the voting over the past 72 hours and it's remained pretty steady for the most part (although there were a few instances where I was horrified to see Donald Glover and Zac Efron in the lead!) with the winner eventually being fan favourite, Logan Lerman:

780 Votes (23.21%)

However, I was little more surprised at just how close a contest it was with the majority of candidates having less than a hundred votes difference between them. Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson had a good lead in second place though, with Jamie Bell almost 200 votes behind:

How about NONE of them and we just stop this epic fail of a reboot before we get a big disaster on our hand, this reboot already has negative buzz anyways

The top two would do alright by me. I still don't like this reboot idea.

Can I get some opinions on my new Avengers poster? There are 5 slightly different versions and I may do a poll article if people think it's cool enough to bother.

Yes, I did borrow bits and pieces from folks here at CBM.

hopefully Sony take after Nolan and not read the internet for suggestions...

I actually like the idea of this reboot. I think it will be a good opportunity to make the series right. I kinda knew after the third movie that it would all go down from there (example Shrek series), so in my opinion this reboot could be good. But they have alot of chances to screw it up.

Aaron Johnson for Spidey!!!

You know Sony I bet would really love to have douchebag Robert Pattinson in this role or Zac Efron to bring in those Twihards and HS musical nutjobs in there not knowing the plot to Spiderman anyways and want to see them in it anyways. Next thing you know they will consider Justin Bieber for Spiderman.

@ziggy reboot of this is a terrible idea, its not even 10 years old and the Spidey franchise made over 1 billion in the US alone, and Sony thought there was a reason to reboot it? They want to make Spidey a comic book carbon copy of that disgrace of a film series called Twilight, make it all lovey dovey and sappy.;

Why did Sony release this the same weekend as Star Trek 2 anyways?

@spiderwoman If that avatar is you, your hot btw

@claybo4131: The Spidey reboot is set to be gritty and contemporary aka have darker themes than the previous trilogy,does that sound like Twilight at all? If Twilight is dark than what are Tim Burton's films? LMAO

2. This is set to be based on Ultimate Spider-Man as the basis for this.

3. Are any of those actors on the shortlist Teen idols? Because if a Disney channel actor/Twilight actor was on the list that argument would have some merit but right now it Doesnt.

4. Considering that Michael Fassbender will possibly be playing the villain(you know the one that movie buzz said this movie won't have haha). Why not actually give it a chance before forming an opinion?

I'm still waiting to see what they come up with before truly forming an opinion on the quality of this film plus Raimi's films weren't that good anyway.

I think Logan Lerman has that wide-eyed youthfulness and "aw shucks" charm that Peter Parker has, that's why he won the poll. I'm actually more for this reboot than against. SM4 with Raimi was heading in an awful direction, and it would have been the death of the franchise. Vulture? Really? No thanks. Marc Webb is a very talented director and I'd love to see what he can do with the property. (500) Days of Summer blew me away. That film was flawless.

@blee947 - they already announced that their taking Pete back to high school. If memory serves me right, he was a sophomore when he got his powers, which considering the fact that he was ahead of his peers by virtue of his intellect, he should be about 15 yrs old. Unless he's leaving Queens and attending school in LA (90210), in which case we need someone about 32.

I voted for this kid and I hope he's the one to take over the role.

It's very clear that Sony don't read the internet for suggestions otherwise they wouldn't be doing these reboot, a lot of fans are against it. And as for Lerman for Spidey I said, based on his Percy Jackson movie, HELL NOOOOOOOO, I hated that whole movie, him included.
austen
austen - 6/17/2010, 10:19 AM
Logan Lerman has that Peter Parker likeability and can also be a wise-cracking spidey. But apparently Sony and Marc Webb don't look at internet fan polls. He should at least get a screentest. LERMAN AS PETE AND YELCHIN AS HARRY

For a while there was a surge in pattinson and efron votes. I can live with Jamie Bell as spidey though

The Reboot only has negative buzz because you guys keep complaining about it. I wish they would have kept going with the franchise too but they aren't so lets hope we just get some more great Spidey.

SHAZAM171 - 6/17/2010, 11:09 AM
Zac Efron is a absolute NOOOOO!!!! The boy is to much of a pretty boy. The only people that want Zac Effron is lusting girls and gay boys. We want a believable Spiderman not a rated G ABC Family type of Spiderman. Peter Parker has to be a not to good looking Nerd boy. Who can't get the girl. Not the opposite. And the Logan kid is still a kid, I don't like him. No reboot. I want a Continuation. Aaron Johnson is a better Choice.
REMEMBER.. NO PRETTY BOYS!!! WE DO NOT WANT TO TURN SPIDERMAN INTO A ANOTHER TWILIGHT FRANCHISE!!!!! This is what a nerd boy/non-pretty boy looks like....
Makiveli21
Makiveli21 - 6/17/2010, 11:33 AM
1st of all peter parker is SUPPOSED to be a kid. he got bit by the spider when he was 15 and the majority of the comics were written when he was still in high school.

and i really cant understand what you all dont like about the idea of a reboot? youre upset that we might get a green goblin that doesnt look like a power ranger? or that mary jane might actually be hot? or that peter could go 5 minutes without making that stupid whiney "feel bad for me" bitch face? tobey SUCKED as spiderman. complete FAIL. hes not the witty smart ass funny spiderman because hes too busy bein the emo whiney "feel bad for me" peter parker. it was one aspect of his life when we shoulda felt bad for him, when his uncle died, but sam raimi and tobey carried that mood all the way through 3 movies. and dont even get me started on venom......

THANK GOD FOR THE REBOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

lerman or emile hirshe as peter parker
Makiveli21
Makiveli21 - 6/17/2010, 11:36 AM
not to mention that whole gwen stacey bullshit showing up in the third movie!!!!! she died at the hands of the original green goblin way before peter became involved with mary jane!!!!!!! how does raimi just ignore that? its one of the main things that shaped peter into spiderman, almost as major as uncle ben dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pick up a freakin comic book you asshole your directing one of the biggest movies of all time you could at least do a little research!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Rolanddeschain

Dude, he's too old. Chatwin is now 28yrs old...he just CANNOT play a 15yr old.

Plus, he's left a bad taste in everyone's mouth after Dragonball: Evolution...

p.s.- next time no one listens....JUST SHOUT!

lol.
Makiveli21
Makiveli21 - 6/17/2010, 11:45 AM
shazam i kinda agree with what your sayin except the part about "not getting the girl". hes a dork and a geek, and not the BEST looking guy, but hes still a good looking guy with charm, smarts, and eventually (after the spider powers gives him some confidence) charisma. (and thats exactly what raimi missed. pete becomes more confident in himself after he gets powers. he doesnt stay a whiney little bitch nerd.) because he DOES get the girl. or should i say GIRLS. mary jane, gwen, black cat, betty brandt, carlie cooper, kitty pryde.... the list goes on and on the kids a pimp!

@Makiveli21

Good post, i do have to disagree with the Emile Hirsch suggestion tho, simply due to his age (he's 25 now). I really don't understand why they just don't get some up and coming 15yr old Disney star that has a knack for being a smartass! For me, that was the worst part of the Spidey films....that missing "Smart-Ass" factor!

Zac Efron might have been ok 7yrs ago, since it seems he's shaping into a decent actor. IMO, if they want 3 Highschool movies (which i think would be cool, since it would allow for better continuity with the comic) they really need to pick up an actual 15yr old. That way, when the kid is playing an 18yr old PETER PARKER, he'll only be 21-22 as opposed to 25-26.

Btw, Topher Grace should have been SPIDEY when this series started. He has the perfect comedic timing for SPIDEY!
