Hey all!

In a recent interview, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach discuss the epicness of the scale, the surprises, and action in The Amazing Spider Man 2. In the interview they hint towards the appearance of another Marvel Hero being in the film.

"On If Another Marvel Hero Appears In The Movie:

Avi Arad: Uh... I’d rather not answer that at this point. This is what the word ‘spoiler’ means. We want to always leave the audience with a couple of surprises. All of a sudden, you feel like, yeah, there’s a continuity. So if we say today how we go about it, we’d take away from the surprise of the movie. "

Matt Tolmach did not comment on this.

Either Avi Arad is trying to throw us off, or either he is trying to hide the truth. Straight off the bat Arad says that it will be a spoiler if he tells us whether there will be a Marvel Hero in the film or not. That seems pretty obvious...a little too obvious and could be just Arad trying to throw us off. But before he calls the answer to the interviewer's question a spoiler, he says, "Uh... I’d rather not answer that at this point.", which could signify his surprise to the question being asked or either a little confusion on how to respond.

Later on he states, "All of a sudden, you feel like, yeah, there’s a continuity. So if we say today how we go about it, we’d take away from the surprise of the movie." Continuity?

As we know, Disney was ready to put Oscorp in The Avengers. Maybe the Stark Tower or Avengers Tower will be in TASM 2. There could be an agreement between the studios that just hasn't been revealed, and is made to be a "surprise"! During SDCC, Joss Whedon, director of The Avengers, Marc Webb, director or TASM 1 and 2, and Hugh Jackman, the Wolverine, have expressed their feelings towards meshing the universes together. Marc Webb loves the idea so it's obvious he'd want to put a character from the MCU in TASM 2.

So if you believe Avi Arad was avoiding a spoiler or ust throwing off fans, comment and explain below. If you believe the there WILL be a Marvel Hero in TASM 2, who do you think it'll be, whether it's from the MCU or not?

Personally I'd say either Nick Fury. Who knows, what has Samuel Jackson been up to lately? Nothing? Behind the scenes of TASM 2??

Maybe... Sony and Marvel and Disney are on good terms with each other

Even if Sony and Disney came to a deal, they have some hell of explaining to do of where The Avengers were during TASM and where Spiderman was during The Avengers.

Are there /any/ hero characters Sony has jurisdiction to due to them first appearing in a Spider-Man comic? Because, if not, either he simply doesn't want to comment on it, or they've procured some kind of agreement with Marvel Studios to (briefly, most likely) incorporate a character into the film. That would be absolutely fantastic to see on screen.

If there hadn't been the story about the skyline in the Avengers I would dismiss this but it seems Marvel and Sony are both open to some sort of crossover.

Will ASM 1-3 all have been released before Avengers3 is released?

If so, I think we will see subtle references before Spider-Man crossingover and appearing in Avengers 3.

@Viltrumite An obvious would be The Punisher who first appeared in Spider-Man comics. Marvel now have the rights to him but maybe he could first appear in one of the ASM films? He doesn't need an origin film and has no powers so easy to set him up and have him appear in a ASM and MCU film...

It could possibly an x-men or maybe just a Easter egg for F4 reboot. I'm not gonna get too excited. Avi Arad has been disappointing for the past few years. I just don't understand him lately.

Don't wanna burst anyones bubble but surely the other potential 'hero' that is showing up is gonna be Black Cat??

@MrCBM56

Well we can assume that Spidey showed up after the Avengers and as for where Avengers were...it's the same problem as with IM3...but there it was president on the line...They were otherwise occupied :P

I would like to see Samuel L. in TASM2...he was a big part of Ultimate series and I would like to see him come[for example to the grave of Gwen or whoever grave that was in the trailer] and speak to him about "shit"...don't give up etc. :) or:

"There's no place for vigilante heroes in USA...you're to young for this shit" :)

*Of course black nick fury was big part of Ultimate Spider...not Samuel :P

I wish I could be more hopeful for this kind of a crossover but it's probably either: a) just a misdirect to get people talking about the movie. or b)just another character in Spidey's universe (Black Cat)

@Spidey5194

Yeah that much is sure...I don't think they would be able to hide the fact that Samule "nick fury" Jackson showed up on the set...or any other Marvel hero. It has to be someone connected to Spidey universe.

Best option is Daredevil. Marvel doesnt seem to be wanting to focus on the character after getting him back, so why not sell him off again to someone who can do something good with him?

Its easy to explain. Spider-man didn't get his powers until after the avengers fight (Hence why teh cranes are everywhere to fix the city) and the avengers didn't want to waste their time on a lizard in new york. Not that threatening on a global scale (Nobody knew he was going to release it on everyone). Sadly I think the most logical would be like Venom... That would make me happy but let down at the same time. Also black cat maybe, that would make me even more let down. All I want is a full MCU but its probably never going to happen.

The could keep it secret the way they kept the ruffalo scene in IM3 secret. And they kept samuel secret on the IM set as well.

If they follow the current timeline, a major crossover could work.
2000-2006=X1-X3, No Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D. yet, and X-men disband sometime in 2007
2008-2012=Iron Man-Avengers, no X-Men left. Avengers seperate at the end which is May of '12
July of '12=Amazing Spiderman, all avengers are in their own adventures, Spiderman wasn't Spiderman until now, still no X-Men.
DOFP is the only one that's going to take some explanation, unless SEtinels killed Avengers in the alternate Future, which happened in comics.

Black Cat. Villain at first. Then in the end teams up with Spider-Man to fight Goblin and Electro. Idk. Just speculating.

I think it could work. If Nick Fury shows up or Cap. Iron Man seems a little out there cause he's all the way in Cali. Obviously, Spidey looks to create a wider impact on New York City in this one. People look to be already aware of who he is. The only thing that would be weird is trying to explain Peter not knowing anything about The Avengers. But he is from Queens and the Avengers stuff happened in Manhattan, I think. Same with Hulk. But I think it could work.
