SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Trailer Webs Up 130M Views In 24 Hours; Sets New Record For Sony

The highly-anticipated first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home was released online earlier this week, and notched up an impressive 130 million Views In 24 Hours - a new record for Sony Pictures.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home evidently succeeded in building hype for Tom Holland's second solo outing as Marvel's iconic wall-crawler, as it webbed-up a very impressive 130 million views In 24 Hours.

While that doesn't come close to Avengers: Endgame's whopping 289M views (currently the most viewed trailer in history), it's enough to set a new record for Sony Pictures, which was previously held by Far From Home's predecessor Spider-Man: Homecoming (116 million views in 24 hours).

The trailer got a lot of people talking - and not just for being awesome! Although we know that the Spidey sequel is set after the events of Endgame, general audiences don't seem quite so sure and the teaser is clearly happy to remain ambiguous.

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5th. Check out a breakdown of the trailer below.

Spidey Celeb

It looks like Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has fully embraced the superhero life and all of the fame that comes with it.

The teaser kicks-off with Spidey greeting members of his adoring public before making some sort of special appearance and giving a speech. Plus, his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) seems to be handling PR duties.

May And Happy Sitting In A Tree...

Speaking of May, the trailer definitely suggests that she and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) - who arrives with a generous donation from Pepper Potts - have become pretty close, much to the chagrin of her nephew.

Will we actually see them hook up or will there just be a bit of flirting to torture Peter for comedic effect?

Eurotrip

As we already knew, Peter will be accompanying his school pals on a class trip to Europe, and from the looks of things, he has no intention of suiting-up as his wall-crawling alter-ego during his holiday.

You may notice that there's no year visible on his passport, as they obviously want fans to entertain the possibility that the movie might be set pre-Infinity War. We also get a brief shot of the initials on Peter's suitcase, which seemingly belonged to his late Uncle Ben.

Love Is In The Air

We've been told that Zendaya's "MJ" is not actually supposed to be Mary Jane from the comics, but it certainly looks like she'll be taking on the same role as Peter's love interest.

But who knows - maybe it's a swerve and another character will be introduced to turn Parker's head. That rumored French take on Gwen Stacy, perhaps?

Fury

Never let it be said that Nick Fury doesn't know how to make an entrance!

Samuel L. Jackson's former S.H.I.E.L.D. director shows up in Peter's apartment and takes out Ned with a tranquilizer before recruiting Spider-Man for a mission. We then see them taking a little boat trip before it becomes very clear why Fury needs Peter's help.

The Elementals

Confirming a rumor from last year, it looks like Spidey will indeed be facing off against The Elementals.

In the comics, the villainous team consists of Hellfire, Hyrdron, Magnum and Zephyr, but we only glimpse the first three (well, versions of them at any rate) here as they cause havoc in various cities around Europe. The Webhead could probably use some help to take on multiple foes, eh?

Hero Mysterio

Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio is evidently going to be introduced as a hero, and one that threatens to steal a lot of Spidey's thunder.

Of course, as comic book fans will be well aware, Quentin Beck is actually a villain, so we'll probably see the character turn on Peter at some point.

Possible SPOILER alert: There's a good chance Mysterio actually orchestrated The Elemental attacks in the first place.

Thor And Iron Man Namedrop

Finally, we get a humorous little scene with Peter and his friends watching Mysterio's heroics on the TV, with someone commenting that he's "like Iron Man and Thor rolled into one."

It then becomes clear that Flash Thompson has a bit of a man-crush on Spidey, but still makes fun of Peter. If only he knew they were the same person!
