A while ago a list of actresses that Sony were apparently interested in casting as the female lead in Marc Webb's
Spider-Man reboot appeared online. One of the young ladies was Emma Roberts(Next to be seen in
Scream 4). While interviewing her about her latest movie
Its Kind Of A Funny Story, MTV played a little game of Yes/No/You never know. Roberts response was of course..
"You never know, I'm saying the truth — you never know!"
Asked again if she's met with anybody on the
Spider-Man team:
"You never know!"
The interviewer took this as a yes anyway, and so do I. 9 times out of 10 if an actor/actress has no involvement in a project they will be all too happy to clear up the rumor. So if Roberts is in talks, that would suggest that the full list of actresses supposedly in contention for the part(Not Mary Jane, believed to be Gwen Stacy) is probably accurate.
Either way, Roberts seems interested and when asked if she is a fan of comics she is quick to reply..
"I think they're awesome. I don't read comic books religiously, but I think they're cool and it would be really fun to be a part of a franchise like that and get to play a character that's been around forever that people have already developed a love towards."
The full list of potential actresses are: Emma Roberts (Scream 4), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Imogen Poots (Centurion), Ophelia Lovibond (London Boulevard)and Lily Collins (Priest). Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) was also mentioned in connection but has apparently debunked the rumor.
