Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now in theaters, but we're still seeing some new promotional material for the animated sequel find its way online, and this Chinese poster has prompted a lot of discussion.
Though it's not (obviously), a lot of people seem to be under the impression that Miles Morales is holding what looks like... well, without getting too graphic, we'll just say a sex aid and leave it at that!
We're not exactly sure what it is supposed to represent, but given the origin of the poster, we'd say a type of fish-ball skewer popular in China is most likely.
While we're sure there was no ill intent here, it's kind of mind-blowing to think that nobody picked up on this before the poster was approved for release outside of the Middle Kingdom, because it really does look like... a string of a certain type of beads.
Hey, maybe Miles is simply making an unorthodox - and very brave - attempt to win Gwen's heart?
Check out the poster for yourselves below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
The confirmed voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Brian Tyree Henry.
