SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Wins Best Animated Film At The BAFTAS; Letitia Wright Named Rising Star
The 72nd British Academy Film Awards ceremony is currently underway at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and we already have a couple of big CBM-related winners. Get a complete rundown after the jump...
The 72nd edition of the BAFTA awards took place at London's Royal Albert Hall tonight, with returning host Joanna Lumley on hand to present the gongs along with a few zingers. "Thank goodness BAFTA actually has a host," the legendary actress joked, getting in a quick jab at the Academy Awards.
Marvel's Black Panther wasn't up for Best Film, but Letitia Wright (Shuri) did beat Jessie Buckley, Cynthia Erivo, Barry Keoghan and Lakeith Stanfield to be named Rising Star of 2019. The Ryan Coogler-helmed movie also won Best Visual Effects... somehow.
In addition, Sony's superb Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse won Best Animated Film over Disney's Incredibles 2 and Wes Anderson's equally deserving Isle of Dogs.
That about does it for the CBM-related victors, but you can check out a full list of winners below.
