Deadline is reporting:

"While the website Hitfix reported today that Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief star Logan Lerman was the clear first choice and "almost 100% locked" into becoming the next Peter Parker in the rebirth of the Spider-Man franchise, insiders at Sony say that the young actor is not getting the role. In fact, these sources were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered. for the new film that will be directed by (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb."

Isn't this almost exactly like what happened with Krasinski?

A little disappointed, I think Lerman is a great up-and-comer who has potential, he can be funny (Meet Bill) and determined and strong-willed (3:10 To Yuma). But, as long as they get someone good for the role, no big deal.

I think Lerman would've worked but he's probably tied up with Percy Jackson.

As someone with knowledge of the books and after seeing that Fox should pull a Sony and reboot that crap since it looked like they never even read them. Anyway Lerman wouldn't be a bad choice at all for Parker.

But as an alternative I say Steven R. McQueen as Peter Parker

i agree, yelchin would be great. unfortunately he's got the star trek sequel due out in 2012 and so is the case with the spider-man reboot, so being in two major films in the same year might be a bit much for him. however, there's always the chance the star trek sequel doesn't happen as soon as 2012 (there's still no script and it seems like every movie jj abrams gets involved in, it takes forever for a sequel to be made) and there's also the fact that yelchin was in -both- star trek and terminator salvation in the same year. so, who knows...

@Reilly Parker - Anton Yelchin on my list too for spidey or in the alternative a Logan Lerman-Yelchin Parker and Harry combo but Anton is no longer in not in contention for Spidey. he already announced that he's doing the remake of Fright Night and Star Trek II is coming out the same weekend as Spidey so he can't be associated with the new SM movie.

Still think Logan Lerman could have pulled it off but let's see who they come up with next.

Netfix stands by its story and source though. Is this all an orchestrated casting story? so long as the end result is not "Zac Efron back as Spidey Frontrunner"

[frick] this though. I hate the idea of this whole high school reboot but at least Lerman is a decent choice and a good actor (see 3: 10 To Yuma) Christ, we'll probably end up with Zac Efron or Robert Pattison to keep the teens and emo's happy! ;(

GOTBATMAN: Dude, I'm not being rude but you look nothing like Spider-Man apart from in that badly drawn cover from Peter Parker #1 and even that's pushing it!

It's okay by me if Lerman isn't going to be Spidey. As long as it isn't Zac Efron, or some other 25-30 year old guy trying to play a high schooler, I'm cool with it.

Honestly, they wouldn't let us know for real until the last possible moment, remember when movies were made with false titles and fake plotlines and it wasnt until you saw a trailer, then you were like where the hell did this movie come from?...hollywood has gone too "papparrazi" on their movies that we might as well ahve watch the damn thing alreaady with all this coverage we are wovles when it comes to "news" about films...what happened to just being surprised in the theatre, we ahve too much control over what happens in the film process, we are always complaining, the new hero looks dumb, this planet isnt quite right, her boobs are way too big, let it be and im sure we will still be wowed when the trailer comes out and we can't wait to see what it will look like on the big screen.

I'd cast Wes Bentley & Isla Fisher for Spidey & MJ in a reboot and continue the story, where Raimi left off.

But MISNEY's at the helm of this new franchise, so we're gonna ultimately end up with Zak Effron & Ashley Tisdale!

SpiderBat209@ It seems as though Marvel is pretty much handling the movies and casting, if Thor and Captain America are an indication. Those that think Disney is completely in charge of the decisions Marvel makes don't understand how subsidiaries typically operate in the business sector.

lerman would have been good. EMILE HIRSHE WOULD BE PERFECT! how is he too old? kids like 24 with a babyface. tobey was 35 when he did spidey 3 and everyone still cries and whines for him in a 4th spidey even though he would be like 40 years old still making that whiney bitch face.

wolverinefury- tobey was terrible. and the green power ranger goblin in the first movie sucked too. raimi screwed up that franchise BAD! thank GOD for the reboot.
