MORBIUS Moves To January 2022 In Wake Of NO TIME TO DIE Move; VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Stays In June

Well, that didn't take long... In the wake of MGM & EON moving No Time To Die to October, Sony has officially pushed Daniel Espinosa's Spider-Man spinoff Morbius starring Jared Leto to January 2022.

Following a number of release date delays earlier tonight, Sony Pictures has added one more to their list as they've officially moved Daniel Espinosa's Morbius from October to January 21, 2022.

While disappointing for fans of the vampiric Marvel Comics antihero, the move shouldn't come as a surprise as the studio was more or less forced to delay the film yet again following MGM & EON's decision today to push Daniel Craig's 007 swan song to its former October date.

The film stars Academy Award-winner Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049Suicide Squad) in the title role with a supporting cast that contains Matt Smith (Terminator: Genisys; Doctor Who), Adria Arjona (6 Underground; Triple Frontier), Jared Harris (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.Chernobyl), Al Madrigal (I'm Dying Up HereAbout a Boy), Tyrese Gibson (F9Transformers), and Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: Homecoming; Batman) as the Vulture.

Despite Morbius moving, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is currently staying put in June, but that date is also likely subject to change as studios across Hollywood continue to evaluate the box office earnings potential of spring and summer releases. Sony and Marvel Studios' untitled Spider-Man threequel is also still set for December.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.

Morbius hits theaters January 21, 2022
