My comparison between "Spider-Man"(2002) and "The Amazing Spider-Man"(2012"

My comparison between "Spider-Man"(2002) and "The Amazing Spider-Man"(2012"

So I went back to the previous Spider-Man films and decided to compare the first films to the new film to finally get to the bottom of the situation.

Goes to show, The Amazing Spider-man is really close to source material, while Raimi's had the suit but not the story resemblance. I still like Raimi's but I am sure TASM will be as good hopefully better.

Tobey McGuire, though I hated him as Spidey, got jacked for that roll. It wasn't a body suit. But I agree he didn't really show off is flexibility much.

Also, Spider-Man was not always depicted as a lanky gangly sort, look at Todd McFarlane's run with it, he was huge and flexible.

I agree 100% with the article. Well done. Tobey did a decent job in the role, but towards the end he was getting older and it was time to move on. Apart from that, based on what I read on the script for S4, it would have been terrible.

i see your a dragonball fan. did you like dragonball? because that took a huge dump on the source material. look where it got it!!! it rocked!!!

Raimi's suit still wasn't that a spider-man suit from the comics should have looked like but it was better. toby was one of the worst miscasts in a film ever. come to think of it, so was MJ and Venom. geez they were bad.

this will come in second behind Avengers, but if Avengers goes wrong (which is like 50/50 it will) this film will be first. really hope Avengers isn't going to end up a mess *fingers-crossed*.

I prefered Raimi's Spider-Man..
Well, the 2nd film at least :p
We'll see how TASM turns out, fingers crossed

Tobey Maguire was great as Spider-Man I mean how can you get nerdier than him. Andrew Garfield seems to be way too broody and I don't know why everyone is saying that he looks just like Peter because I don't see it. I am looking forward to the Lizard though I think that will be the saving moment of the film. I just can't get over the new suit because it looks awful.

This will be a decent film but I don't see it being as good or sucessful as the original film.

Another big difference is that Raimi brought us Spidey on the big screen ten years earlier! Yeah his movies were different than TAS will be, but I'm sure as hell glad I didn't have to wait until 2012 for the first Spider-man movie to happen.
Enough comparisons, let's just focus on the new one i.e. what a terrible looking suit lol.

I actually liked Toby as Spider-Man. When it came out I could relate to the character as he was just an average kid and I viewed homs as a nerdy older brother or something

The new one seems like a teenage Bruce Wayne-_-
all depressed and shit lol
Still excited to see it though

Toby is a truly terrible actor. all aside he just can't act, and he some how as a small handful of nominations for crap. he won an award for spider-man 3 so let that tell you something.

Andrew Garfield is a great actor (he's british what do you expect)
with a resume a fraction the size of toby's he has a shit ton of awards and nominations.

So why so much hating on either movies. They were both amazing and spectacular and other Spidey puns. Though I am hurt on the realism of this movie, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Avengers has got anything on this film.

It's silly first of all to compare these movies when ASM didn't come out yet. I personally loved Raimi's Spidey films & thought they captured Peter's life as a lovable loser perfectly. Raimi loves Spider-Man & it showed. Ppl bitch about the 3rd one, but the 1st two were fantastic! I remember how they were the talk of damn near every comic geek in every comic store as the standard in CBM's. Ppl are letting their hate for 3rd one jade their perceptions on the series as a whole which is stupid. Does Batman Forever or Batman & Robin ruin the original for all you ppl who love it so much?
DarthGeoffPeterson
DarthGeoffPeterson - 9/17/2011, 7:07 AM
I personnaly enjoyed SM3, not to say I don't have my gripes with it. I think it could have been better without studio interference, & don't come here with that "Raimi was gonna do the 'Vultress' thing", cuz until I can see documented proof, or hear Raimi say that himself, I don't believe that. But I digress, they're movies. Just like some comics stories are horrible, some movies tank too. That's life I guess, but to deny the original 2 at least their due credit is IMO stupid.

I'm sure when The Amazing Spider-Man comes out people will find tons of adaption "problems".

And in the comics Gwen Stacy was not Peter's first love. That title would go to Betty Brant. Gwen is not Parker's second love either. That would go to Liz Allan. Mary Jane only appeared a year after Gwen, anyways. I feel that whole argument about Gwen over Mary Jane shouldn't mean much because if the film did follow the comics Betty Brant would be Spidey's first love.
DarthGeoffPeterson
DarthGeoffPeterson - 9/17/2011, 12:01 PM
^^True. Ppl seem to forget that. I think the only reason ppl even remember Gwen is b/c she died. Personally I always found her rather uninteresting. I feel she is better utilized as a plot device. Apparently, Raimi decided Uncle Ben was enough motivation for Peter
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 9/17/2011, 1:40 PM
I wouldn't make this until the movie comes out FIRST.
