SPIDER-MAN: Here's Everything You Need To Know About The Game's First Batch Of DLC

There's a little over a week to go until Spider-Man debuts on PlayStation 4 but Insomniac has already revealed details about the first batch of DLC content including its release date and pricing...

Insomniac Games has revealed that the first chapter of Spider-Man: City That Never Sleeps DLC (titled Spider-Man: The Heist) will be released on October 23rd. In the main game, players will learn that Black Cat is back in town and leaving clues around town to toy with the wall-crawler. In the DLC, we'll get new missions and challenges as we play as the hero, while new enemies will also be added to the game along with three additional (and currently unrevealed) Spidey suits to unlock during this adventure.

The full release calendar for Spider-Man: City That Never Sleeps has also been revealed by Insomniac:

October 23: Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist
November 2018: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Turf Wars
December 2018: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Silver Lining

All three instalments are available on PlayStation Store for a bundle price of $24.99. If that doesn't take your fancy, you can buy them upon release for $9.99 each. What we don't know right now is whether or not Insomniac is planning any DLC for 2019 but it's easy to imagine that being in the works as Insomniac will want to keep gamers playing this title for as long as possible moving into next year.

What would you like to see from future Spider-Man DLC? Share your thoughts in the usual place.

One every month after release, huh? Seems like a little...Disc Locked Content

@Tonic24k - or it actually has a proper pipeline of content Bc it’s a single player game and they want to minimize the drop off of sales through the holiday season by having continuous content

@Tonic24k - watch em be 10mb updates lol

@Ha1frican - Gotta spread those joints out. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a nice stream of content. But when DLC is released that soon after launch, it could very well be part of what you purchase as the main game.

@Vigor - Lol! Exactly.

@Tonic24k - not necessarily, people assume that but especially if they have a hard ship date and depending on how significant the story content is (new missions, challenges, costumes, even areas) the resources dedicated to getting that game out on time don’t come out of knowhere just bc you can plan something ahead of time doesn’t mean you can get it out the door, how many day one patches over like 15gb do we see on every game bc they are working on it right up until release even after. Planning consistent content before the game comes out doesn’t mean it can be finished before that date

@Tonic24k - This is something that people claim without having any proof whatsoever to support it. This gets brought up with a lot of games.

You have to think, even though the first set of content releases a month after launch, if ANYTHING in that content isn't finished, or doesn't work right, then that means it wasn't ready at launch.

It might be on the disc, but when it releases it may get patches to update anything they added or fixed.

And a month may not seem like a lot of time, but games get delayed all the time for only a month or two so that the devs can fix any issues or make updates. So it's totally possible that the DLC content is not 100% ready to be released at launch.

This can be said for any game.

Do I think some companies have completed, locked content on the disc at launch, and then sell it separately? Yes. I think it does happen. There are a lot of shitty companies out there. But we just have no way of knowing for sure.

@Ha1frican - I don't argue those points, dude. I know how it all works. What I'm saying is tho, the video game industry has figured out a way to squeeze more money out of the consumer. Instead of just banking $60 from each sale, they take some additional story pieces and break them apart and charge you more for those. This is case in point.

From a business perspective it's brilliant. I have my own fitness app and had to come up with creative ways to increase average transaction size, etc. I'm simply pointing out from a consumer perspective we could've very easily waited until December and paid $60 for all this content at once.

@CorndogBurglar - It's an obvious trend within the gaming industry. And before this trend we would've paid $60 for all of the mentioned content in December. But as I remarked above, from a business perspective it's brilliant.

GhostDog
GhostDog - 8/29/2018, 4:49 AM
@TheInsaneCipher - we need a daredevil game after this
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 8/29/2018, 4:51 AM
@BlackBeltJones - And then black panther, the punisher and possibly thor game. I will be happy then.
Vigor
Vigor - 8/29/2018, 6:19 AM
@BlackBeltJones - or just a full on triple A avengers game that includes all these characters and their own game play mechanics. Basically overwatch in the marvel world with spiderman open world ness and arkham story
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 8/29/2018, 6:21 AM
@Vigor - Nah. Then they would not have fully fleshed out combat, there own stories and free roam maps,

Maybe a overwatch game after it. But before......?

Naw.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 8/29/2018, 6:46 AM
@Vigor - isnt an Avengers game coming?
Kman
Kman - 8/29/2018, 7:52 AM
@BlackBeltJones - "isnt an Avengers game coming?"

Feels like I've asked this question thousands of times - still gonna be awhile I'm guessing
Vigor
Vigor - 8/29/2018, 9:16 AM
@TheInsaneCipher - I mean exactly that. A game where every character is different (ala overwatch) but with free roaming and a good story
Vigor
Vigor - 8/29/2018, 9:17 AM
@BlackBeltJones - yeah but just as a rumor for now I hear
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 8/29/2018, 12:25 PM
@Vigor - I would not really say overwatch then. That's a fps deathmatch primary game.
