Rumor: Spider-Man 5 Will Star Miles Morales As Tom Holland Signs "Huge" Deal With Marvel And Sony

Following the record-breaking box office success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a new rumour claims that the next movie will finally introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Miles Morales.

By JoshWilding - Sep 18, 2026 10:09 AM EST

Tom Holland has repeatedly said that he hopes to pass the Spider-Man mantle on to a young actor playing the MCU's Miles Morales. When that might happen isn't clear, though Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be the first chapter in the actor's second and final trilogy as Peter Parker.

Miles was introduced in the Ultimate Universe when that world's Spider-Man died at the hands of the Sinister Six. Only 13, he was a very different Spidey, who, thanks to Secret Wars, eventually made a permanent home on Earth-616.

Since then, he's become Peter's friend and partner, something we've also seen in Insomniac's hugely successful Spider-Man video games. It's also worth remembering that Miles headlines his own critically acclaimed, Oscar-winning animated Spider-Verse franchise.

Rumours that the hero would be referenced or introduced in Spider-Man: Brand New Day didn't pan out. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed the teenager is off-limits to them until Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse's release next year.

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH is reporting that Miles Morales will be in Spider-Man 5 and that Holland has signed "a huge deal" with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. It's unclear whether that's just for the next movie or multiple appearances across the MCU.

While Spider-Man 6 could serve as Peter's farewell, it arguably makes more sense for Holland to become a supporting character in the franchise in Spider-Man 7 and beyond, as fans will be eager to see the two web-slingers share the screen. There are also many fans who would prefer the spotlight remain on Peter.

Feige recently touched on the Spider-Man franchise's future, confirming plans for potentially as many as five more movies and the live-action debut of Miles Morales.

"There's a line in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Electro says, 'There's always a black Spider-Man somewhere.' Audiences around the world were thrilled because they knew it might be a hint at Miles," Feige said. "The good news is, Sony has the *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse* series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Universe is coming out next year."

"But yes, we definitely have plans [for a live-action Miles]," he revealed, "and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends."

"We've been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts. My production partner, Amy Pascal, is already working on it, and we've had in-depth discussions about what the next two, three, four, and five Spider-Man movies might be about," Feige concluded, making it clear that Spidey's future is in the MCU.

I hope they cast Dallas Dupree as Miles Morales.

@Forthas - he'd be too old by the time they get around to filming.

"There's a line in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Electro says, 'There's always a black Spider-Man somewhere.' Audiences around the world were thrilled because they knew it might be a hint at Miles,"

Was it a hint though? Seems like a big reach, over a throw-away line that I would imagine Foxx ad lib'd or something.

I like Miles, but can we get more Peter actually being Spider-Man first? We just got a single movie of that after 6 or so appearances from Holland.

@ArthurFuchsache - even though i liked seeing Peter grow into the role over 3 films (6 of you count CW ,IW & EG) , he did feel properly confident and the most “Spider Man-esque” in BND so it would suck to already be setting up his replacement before we get to atleast enjoy a trilogy of him like that…

Granted , I know you always have to truncate with these films due to movies taking long to make & such but i would hope Holland sticks around just a bit longer atleast especially given how successful BND was.

@TheVisionary25 - you hit the nail on the head. I think we should get 2 more SM films before we even get close to Miles. Would love to see Holland mentoring, when he's old enough to look like an adult 😂

@ArthurFuchsache - And for some reason we needed to sacrifice Tom being Peter Parker to have him be a real Spider-Man.

It'd be noce if we could get both someday. Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Like the comics.

@ArthurFuchsache - lol this is kind of a hilarious statement since Tom Holland has played Spiderman 7 times now.

They're not going to replace Peter. Just introduce Miles. Tom will have 2 full trilogies, and he's probably going to mentor Miles. Of you look at the Insomniac games Miles is just a guy in the first one and doesn't become a Spiderman til the end.

Rhodey and Bucky were introduced first as friends to Cap and Tony. Then they became their superhero side.

Deonox - 9/18/2026, 1:17 PM
@ObserverIO - correction. It will be 8x because he's in Secret Wars
ArthurFuchsache
ArthurFuchsache - 9/18/2026, 1:25 PM
@Deonox - well I did say "6 appearances or so".

Given how miles was introduced in the comics, it would make sense that he would eventually replace Peter, when Holland is done with playing Spider-Man. If you read a later reply after my initial comment you'd see me say "I think we should get 2 more SM films before we even get close to Miles. Would love to see Holland mentoring".

Is reading hard for you?

I think the most likely scenario is this:

Spider-Man 5: Miles is introduced and gets his powers in an after-credits scene.

Spider-Man 6: Miles is trained by Peter and suits up as Spider-Man for the final battle.

Spider-Man 7: Peter and Miles work together; the movie ends with Peter retiring or joining the Avengers.

Spider-Man 8 & 9: Both movies focus exclusively on Miles as Spider-Man, with Peter making cameo appearances here and there.

Spider-Man 10: Live action Spiderverse movie.

@TheJok3r - My gosh that would be a dream turn of events.
Scarilian

@TheJok3r -

Spider-man 5 should adapts The Death of Jean DeWolff + Back In Black + Kraven's Last Hunt.

DeWolff is injured, Spider-man allies with Daredevil searching for answers, Spider-man loses it against Kingpin, Kraven defeats Spider-man, Spider-man manages to return from the brink of death and defeat Kraven. DeWolff comes out of the coma but cannot return to the police force.

Spider-man 6 should then finally give us Venom

Without DeWolff protecting Spider-man, the media and police begin to turn on Spider-man, pushing him to question his own morality when he encounters Black Cat. After an attempted forced seperation of the symbiote from Spider-man by the Fantastic Four, the symbiote proceeds to bond with a new host Scorpion becoming Venom who wants to destroy everything Peter Parker cares about. The film ends with the death of Ned Leeds which brings MJ And Peter back together starting a new relationship.

Then the next trilogy is where you introduce Miles, have him develop to being Spider-man and finally kill off Peter Parker in Spider-man 9.

"There are also many fans who would prefer the spotlight remain on Peter" -- thats me. not that i dont like Miles, i just feel like there are soooo many more stories to tell with Peter... hell.. he's only "college" age Peter not even fully adult peter and we just want to get rid of him... no thanks. Miles as a supporting character or introduced by Spidey 6 or 7 is fine with me

I'd like a few more years of Peter sans Miles. I could see Secret Wars working Miles into our majorly focused streamed timeline, but I don't want them to screw him up. Like they've done:

War Machine
Falcon
Black Panther
Blade

Peter Parker is Spider Man like Bruce Wayne is Batman. I get that Miles has his fans, but if they ever try and kill off or replace Peter, the film will fail. What works for a cool animated film will not translate to live action as well. Miles should have his own Spider identity (some cool Spider themed name) and be his own character not some hand me down from an iconic hero’s known and loved for decades.

Miles and the Symbiote introduced in Secret Wars similar to comics

This is a nothing burger. Apparently interviews with Feige and Pascal just 2 months ago arent enough to dissuade the thought that Miles would be coming anytime soon. In fact the box office kind of tells us that even on a business level there's no need to push for the debut of Miles. And considering these movies will be done on Tom Holland's time. Yeah, they're not introducing Miles. And right now there's no script. There's nothing concrete creatively going on now. It's a load of bullshit. A whole article derived from a one sentence tweet from someone who is not reputable whatsoever.

TheVisionary25 - 9/18/2026, 11:17 AM
If Miles being introduced is true in Spider Man 5 is true then I would like him to be a new neighbor of Peter’s whose family just moved into the building & they bond until like a post credits scene where he gets his powers somehow which could factor more prominently in the sixth film where Peter finds out and mentors him
etc.

Also my pick for MCU Miles would be Juliano Valdi who played young MJ in “Michael”.

I’m okay with the transition to Miles. Holland has been Spidey for a decade across seven films. That’s a lot and I’m surprised so many people aren’t ready for him to move on. Personally, I’m okay with two more films with the spotlight on Holland and then on to Miles.

@MrRossBot - if need be then yeah two-three more Spidey films with Peter at his peak then moving onto Miles isn’t bad

Loohnutick - 9/18/2026, 12:32 PM
@MrRossBot - Maybe because he's barely embodying everything Spider-Man is supposed to be and it's already been 10 years. We need more of that! Also like Cap and Tony, writing Peter off the MCU when Mutants are barely coming means no interactions with Wolverine, Iceman, Fantastic Four, etc. Just seems like a big mistake. Not seeing Iron Man interact with Reed or Cap interacting with Cyclops and Wolverine just feels wrong.

If they don't recast Peter Parker he's gonna be the elder statesman of the next MCU. It'll be weird seeing a middle aged Peter mentoring a young Tony Stark.

Maybe Holland should just be the next Tony Stark fr.

@mackmick761 - Actually I do. Not everyone shares the same opinion as you. I really like the idea of Miles Morales and the animated films are fantastic can’t wait for the third instalment. A brown Spiderman works fine as its own spinoff. They don’t need to replace Peter Parker they just need to do a crossover/team up with both heroes working together.

Think the playbook is there. 5 will be huge no matter what they do coming off how big BND is. You cameo or tease Miles in the film or post credit scene setting up 6. Then you do like the video game the two of them teaming up to fight someone which would be a huge thing in the film. By then I'm guessing Tom will be ready to exit the role and pass it off to Miles. He'd have like 18+ years in the role so sure he'd be ready to move on. You do these next two, Secret Wars, maybe whatever event movie is next, cash in on it and then move on.

Personally I don't want Miles yet, I feel we just started hitting our stride with a prime spidey (parker) give us a symbiote arch and maybe one other arch with the end of that arch into miles I would prefer another 4 movies with holland only first, just my opinion
