It’s either a sign of the times or a sign of the apocalypse...

Manhattan’s Empire State University announced a new class for the 2014 fall semester in advanced biogenetics that will actually require the successful cloning of a living creature. Introduction to Live Cloning, taught by noted geneticist Professor Miles Warren, is the first class of its kind anywhere in the world.

When asked about the ethical aspects of teaching a class on how to clone living cells, Warren said, "Our responsibility is to educate our students and prepare them for life. For those who study genetics or biology, cloning will be a fact of life."

The ethical aspects of cloning are irrelevant to Warren, who added, “We are cloning single-celled amoeba. Maybe one day we’ll work our way up to mice. There is no ethical dilemma. Save your red flag for when I start cloning co-eds..."

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

Remeber when all the Spideys came together in the last two episodes of TAS? When Ben Reilly's explaining the clone saga, the cartoon Spidey says, "This is starting to sound like a bad comic book plot!"

I love the viral marketing for this. It doesn't need to appeal to anyone else but hardcore Spider-Man fans, and as one myself, I actually wish The Daily Bugle was much more than a tumblr page, but a full fledged website with daily updates.

I just love the attention to detail and how they are building Spider-Man's movieverse. Jackal is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains and it would be a pretty [frick]ing awesome and messed up way of having Gwen back if she indeed dies in this one in TASM3. Jackal, Green Goblin and Venom would be a hell of a trio for TASM 3.

@CoolantTech, I'm right there with you. The 90's clone saga was my introduction to comic books. I still like the Scarlet Spider better. If Sony really wants to do some spin offs, this is a great thing to introduce. I'd be pysched to see a "Lost Years" movie, then see Ben take over the Spider-mantle for one film and have Garfield return as Spider-Man in a final film.

After the Sinister Six, I'd love to see the Spider-Island saga brought to the big screen:

so the whole advertising campaign involves name dropping characters from the comics to hype people up. but only nerds like us even recognize these names so…what's the point

Clone Saga is one of the worst spider-man stories ever printed, why would anyone want a movie of it?

Is anyone else finding all of this kind of...forced? I mean from things such as the shocker all the way up to this..How long does The Amazing Spiderman 2 take place after the first one? Does anyone knw? From what I heard its a couple months.. And for all of this shit to just start happening ""All of a sudden"" in New York is sort of odd.. Just kind of seems out of place and forced Imo.. Why didn't we hear one mention of anything else going on in TASM 1 besides lizard? Just seems like this all cans out of no where and it's kind of a bother

"I love the viral marketing for this. It doesn't need to appeal to anyone else but hardcore Spider-Man fans"

You just pointed out everything that is wrong with this marketing campaign.

The worst way to market your product is to only appeal to a small group of people. Comic fans are only a small fraction of the people who will see this movie. The viral marketing needs to get the general audience excited for this movie.

Just throwing out random names only a few people are familiar with is not the way to do that. Viral marketing can be really cool if done right. If The Dark Knight could use viral marketing correctly, this movie can, too.
