The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Don't miss The Amazing Spider-Man when it hit theaters on July 3rd, 2012.

Captain America: "Spidey, would you like to join The Avengers?"
Spider-Man: "Nah, I'm a communist."

So not feeling this movie.

Alas... it is a CBM and I'm a Spidey fan so will be watching.

Better to have low expectations and be pleasantly surprised than to have high expectations and be let down

Does anybody know what the music at the beginning of this video is? It's on the ASM website too. Maybe it's music from the movie?

I would like to see Spider-Man fight Electro in the 2nd film (assuming it's Spectacular Spider-Man) and the Vulture in the 3rd. Personally, I think Mark Strong would make an excellent Vulture; I hope he gets asked. A good way to handle Norman Osborn would be to have him fight Spidey in 2, get the amnesia, and then murder Gwen and get stabbed in the heart in 3. That would be a great beginning Spider-Man trilogy leaving room for more down the road (like James Bond).

@MadJakHatesSpinoffs If they would go with Vulture I think that Ben Kingsley would be way better choice...he even looks like Adrian Toomes: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/19735/Ben%20Kingsley.jpg

But I think there will be Goblin in the second one and maybe venom in the third...I would like them to take things slow so maybe introduce Eddie Brock in the 2nd and then they wouldn't have to do his origin again in the third.

I like the coin flip thing on deciding which super hero wins. It really is all about making money. ASM looks good though, I really hope it lives up to my expectations.

Now these films are making money in the billions of dollars, it'd well within the realms of possibility for, say, Sony and Disney to share characters and profits in crossover movies.

All it would take is a contract that makes everybody happy.

Which, of course, would never happen!

Avi Arad needs to seriously consider letting Disney/Marvel share some of the rights to these characters. I may be in the minority here, but he's basically in control of the Spiderman reboot, and he could mess it up again. Not to say that this first movie won't be successful, but still...

..in the long run, I hope that Spiderman ends up back where it belongs, to Marvel.

@Masterpace,

Ben Kingsley does look like the Vulture and would be a great pic. The only problem with that is that he's playing the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. He'd be breaking the unwritten rule.
