Speaking on the red carpet at the launch of the London Film Festival at the Odeon Leicester Square, the newly cast leading man for the "Spider-Man" franchise, Andrew Garfield, revealed that the original Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire has not been in contact with him--at least for now.

"No, I haven't met with Tobey Maguire, no." Garfield told BANG Showbiz. He continued, "But I am a massive fan of his and I loved his and Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' movies."

"They are equally as much a part of the importance to me as the old comics and cartoons. We're going to work hard to get this right."

It is a little strange that Maguire has not yet talked with Garfield. I mean, even Jack Nicholson talked with Heath Ledger about The Joker.

I hope Tobey never calls to give him advice, lol. Garfield is 100 times the actor cardboard cutout Maguire is. He doesn't need advice from him, IMO.

Just because they are actors that will have a role in common doesn't mean they would consult each other.
Sorry. There has to be actual/better news.
Despite what the others say, Tobey did fine with what he was given. #3 shouldn't be taken in to account. That was terrible before he got in front of the camera.

I still think it's ridiculous they picked someone who looks older than Maguire does now.

I sense a Val Kilmer Batman on the horizon...

If Garfield actually like Spidey 3, we're in serious trouble.

Spider-Man reboot sucks. They're doing the same mistake Universal Studios did with The Incredible Hulk.

Do you seriosly think that Sony is going to stick to the comic books, make the villains more like they are in the comics. The only good thing with the reboot is if they stick to the comics. If they don't even do that. And Sam Raimi seemed like he was gonna make Spider-Man 4 better. He even said he would have made the movies differently.

A lot of people that I know also won't be watching Spider-Man reboot. I'm sure Sony thinks, yeah right once the movie appears with a trailer in the cinemas people will pay to watch it. Not gonna happen sonny, best thing you can hope for is people watching it from rental.

I think actually Sony should go along with the reboot. Then once they are utterly dissapointed with the ticket sales, the original Sam Raimi's Amazing Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire can resume, and everyone can forget about this Ultimate Spider-Man they call reboot.

You know what would be great, Sony making an announcement that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 is back on the table and Tobey Maguire is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The newspapers and magazines would have a field day. Heck someone contact E!NEWS right now maybe the rumour will catch on. Actually not a bad idea...guys everyone who want to see Spider-Man 4...do a fansite..better yet make headlines..maybe the rumour will catch on that Spider-Man 4 Tobey Maguire has returned and Sony may consider changing their minds again. It happened before. Remember when we were reading about the preproduction of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4...then it got scrapped. Well I say scrap the reboot.

CBM if you have friends in newspapers, journalists, media etc... an April fool's day kind of announcement with headlines might be what Spider-Man 4 needs to get Sony to changes its mind, one more time.

I mean the cast is terrible compared to first Spider-Man movie. No offense to any of the cast involved, but in Spider-Man we had the likes of Willem Dafoe, David Koepp, Danny Elfman.

The movie had no closure, especially with Pete and MJ, it ended more like a "to be continued".

The reason Sony wanted to reboot was, Sam Raimi was a more expensive director, Tobey an expensive actor and Spider-Man 4 would have had a better script with a better CGI. Why do you think the budget is so little for the reboot?
