Sony's had a rough week, but here's a bit of good news. Not too long ago, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their shortlist for the Makeup and Hairstyling category in the 87th Academy Awards and the list included two Sony Pictures-produced films: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the critically acclaimed Foxcatcher.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy & Disney's Maleficent also scored spots on the list, with GOTG being a likely favorite to secure a nomination and/or possibly win the category after featuring some of the most impressive makeup work ever seen in a Marvel Studios film. Check out the full list below:

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″
“Foxcatcher”
“The Grand Budapest Hotel”
“Guardians of the Galaxy”
“Maleficent”
“Noah”
“The Theory of Everything”

Members of the Academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will gather on January 10, 2015 to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the seven films. After the screenings, the members will vote to nominate three films for final Oscar consideration.

Which films do you think are most likely to secure nominations and who do you think will win the coveted golden statue? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Spider-man's costume was great, but the makeup in TASM2 was nothing special. Even laughable at times. GotG should win because of the varied and believable makeup in practically every scene of the movie.

What no X-Men? Beast, Blink, and Mystique had incredible makeup in X-Men: DOFP. But I NEVER cared about the Oscars and I'm not about to pretend now.

the first Amazing Spider-man was okay but should have had a different villain, they never even touched on The Lizard's son Billy, that's like half his story.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 sucked cause of Electro, The Rhino, and The Green Hipster

LOL @ Green Hipster.

Even his hairdo as a villain was hipster-ish.

Well, it should have been a race between GOTG and DOFP, but since the latter was not nominated, Gunn's film takes this, without problem.

Blink incredible make up? It was one of the simplest works Ive ever seen.
I was excited when she was announced, but the official look is bland to my taste. Nightcrawler in X2 was much much better and more complex. Same with Rebecca as Mystique
