Seemingly confirming the rumors that
Mary Jane Watson role is very small in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, Shailene Woodley was caught sporting her new blonde look while lefting her Soho Hotel in New York in March, 13th.

Shailene was recently cast to star Veronica Roth's DIVERGENT. In this story, people are divvied up into factions with strict rules of conduct and characteristics, such as the selfless people of the Abnegation faction or the brave and violent Dauntless. When you turn 16, you have to take an aptitude test -- sort of like the SATs but with electrodes! -- to find out which faction suits you best. It's a big deal to go from one faction to another, so when our heroine Tris tests for the Dauntless and leaves her family in Abnegation behind, it's wrenching and, as it turns out, dangerous.
Here's what
wikipedia has to say about the character that the new Mary Jane is playing:
Beatrice is the main character and narrator of Divergent. She is described as being short, youthful looking and moderately attractive, with wide, blue eyes and blonde hair that falls to the small of her back; she soon trims her hair to her jawline. Tris is 16 years old and is the younger child of Andrew and Natalie Prior. She has an older brother named Caleb Prior.
Tris comes from Abnegation, which is the selfless and giving faction. When she is sixteen, she decides to leave that faction, and join the brave, daring Dauntless. Tris has to get through the initiation process before becoming a real Dauntless, and if she fails, she will be factionless. So, she fights, shoots, throws knives, and must fight her way out of her worst fears imaginable, and if she does, she will be a Dauntless forever.
While training, Tris gets three tattoos: three ravens above her collar bone, representing the three family members that she left behind; the Abnegation symbol on one shoulder; and the Dauntless symbol on the other. Tris is stubborn and tough. Thin and weak at first, she becomes muscular during training as a Dauntless initiate. During her third initiation stage she learned she only has seven fears: getting eaten alive by crows, being drowned while standing in a glass tank, drowning in the ocean, being burned alive by Peter, being kidnapped, intimacy (with Tobias), and being forced to shoot her family. She and Tobias (Four) Eaton soon fall in love but decide to keep their love life secret, but reveal their relationship by kissing when Tris finds out that she has become a member of Dauntless.
Regardless how much screen time Shailene Woodley will have in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, it's certain that she will be an integral character in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3, for reasons most of us comic book fans know. The fact that she has just a small part in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 makes us question ourselves again though, which Mary Jane Watson is Shailene Woodley playing in this new take on one of the most prominent female characters in comics?
Regardless if Marc Webb is going for the girl next door, smoking hot supermodel or both, I'm sure that Shailene Woodley is up to the task.
