About a year ago, Marc Webb mentioned that Kraven is one of his favorite villains in the Spidey universe. He was recently asked by the guys over at comicbook.com what villain he would be most interested in that hadn't been done before and he once again mentions the villianous hunter as a possibility,
"Kraven," said Webb. "Kraven, I like the idea of Kraven, The Vulture, Ock. I always thought that the idea of Mysterio was interesting. Maybe Scorpion. But really, Kraven I think is kind of interesting."
During the production of
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Webb gave a very similar response forshadowing the Sinister Six (look how that turned out), so I think this is definitely something to read into. We already figured we would be getting The Vulture and Doc Ock. Scorpion is a long shot because of his similarities to lizard. Mysterio may have been teased in the credits of
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, although some believe it was Chameleon. If it was Chameleon, him and Kraven couldwork in unison to take down Spidey being that they are half-brothers. I'm curious to see whether Kraven will be just a ruthless hunter, or perhaps a cross-species experiment from Oscorp using lion DNA. Regardless, I think it's safe to assume we will be seeing Kraven in the near future. Are you guys excited about this, or did
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 leave you careless about what's to come?
In “The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers. The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.
