#MAKETASM3: Tom Holland Shares Support For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 With Returning Andrew Garfield

Doing the rounds to promote Uncharted, Tom Holland has shared his support for the #MakeTASM3 movement, revealing he also hopes to see Andrew Garfield return as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 3...

Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker Variants, though it was the latter who found redemption with his return. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't a particularly good movie, and Garfield was unceremoniously dropped from the franchise when the decision was made to reboot the character for the MCU.

While there hasn't been a huge amount of demand for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 since then (mostly because it sounded like a terrible movie), that's changed with No Way Home's release. Fans now want to see Garfield given another chance, and providing the story doesn't revolve around Norman Osborn's decapitated head and a magic resurrection potion, we're definitely on board.

As it happens, Uncharted star Tom Holland is another #MakeTASM3 supporter!

"I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3. I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, to kind of win the general public back," the actor said during a recent interview with ComicBook.com. "That scene where he saved Zendaya, like, the fan reactions in the theater, was so spectacular. So, should Sony decide to do that, they would have my full support and, obviously, so would Andrew."

Garfield has made it clear he would be on board to suit up as Spider-Man again, so there's really no reason for this not to happen. Holland's Peter, for example, can remain part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the Amazing Spider-Man swinging into Sony's spinoffs like Venom 3 and Madame Web

We'll see what happens, but something tells us we haven't seen the last of Garfield's webbed wonder.

I think amazing spider man 3 and spider-man 4 (Tobey) could be good ideas if we use them to explore ideas that can't or won't be explored in Toms movies.

For example Tobeys film could be about the responsibility of being spider man while also having a wife and kids. And TASM 3....bit more difficult for me to come up with something on the fly but I'm sure there's something

@Mrcool210 - Agreed. That’s exactly why I don’t want them to do the symbiote story (which it seems like a lot of tasm 3 supporters want to see), because that story is already being set up for toms spidey. I’d rather see something like a Spider-Gwen crossover, as it fits andrew better and wouldnt work with toms Spidey obviously

@Mrcool210 - 2 ways to go with the amazing spiderman 3. First is make that into a deeper exploration of the multiverse (feels like from now on mcu Spiderman is just gonna do that through team ups and with venom). It would be a great opportunity to bring back Emma stone as spider Gwen since you can't have an equivalent with the others.

Another route is a clone saga, since the mcu doesn't seem all that interested in spiderman's powers like they are in the amazing universe.

@Origame - A TASM Universe Ben Reily?

@Origame @MeAreLegend - I think bringing back (an alternate) Gwen and bringing in Jackal as the villain could be really interesting too.

And if the Clone Saga fits in a universe, it's definitely the TASM universe indeed. Would definitely be some meaty material for Garfield if he gets to play Peter, Ben and Kaine.

@Mrcool210 - no to TObey. Keep him off the screen.

So did people just forget TASM2 was a thing? There is a reason, I really good reason, why Spider-Man got rebooted again. If they want Garfield back so bad just pull him into the MCU for good, there is nothing to salvage otherwise
Origame
Origame - 2/4/2022, 7:54 AM
@Twenty23Three - I mean, I really don't see why you can't make another good story in that continuity. Heck, no way home partly acts as a third Spiderman movie in that series, and that ended up being the best part.

And considering this is years in the future, you could have oscorp already defeated, meaning it's not really doing much to cap off a trilogy but instead giving another adventure for this character.

Besides, that's a terrible idea just folding him into the mcu when you already have a Spiderman there who just came into his own.

Wonder if they ever considered putting Andrew in the MCU, they did consider having Oscorp tower in Avengers, if it was just amazing spiderman 1, think it could have worked
GirshwinDavies
GirshwinDavies - 2/4/2022, 8:49 AM
@dracula - Honestly, I didn't like the fact that Oscorp was nonexistent in the MCU. Seriously, where our hero was bitten. I thought Walton Goggins' character in Ant Man and the Wasp was working for Osborne.
DarkDetective

@GirshwinDavies - peter only got bitten at oscorp in TASM1 and Ultimate Spiderman, but commonly he is bitten in a random science fair
GirshwinDavies
GirshwinDavies - 2/4/2022, 11:28 AM
@DarkDetective - how late in the game did they change it to Oscorp? Raimi's Spidey was bitten in Oscorp too. When did the Ultimates actually start for Spiderman?
DarkDetective
DarkDetective - 2/4/2022, 1:29 PM
@GirshwinDavies - well, early 2000s,but Raimi's Peter wasnt bitten at Oscorp either, it was a random science lab research facility or something
Tasmaniac

I thought he was a fantastic Spider-Man in TAS - better than Toby - but the movie had no soul. It was just a remake too soon with nothing new to add. I never watched the second one because, from all reports, it’s 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back. So I’m torn. But I think on the whole, given Sony should really have no excuse for [frick]ing up another Spidey story now, I’d like to see what they can do with Andrew the 3rd (4th?) go around. Yeah, [frick] it. Do it 👍🏻

Just use him as the spiderman of the spidermanless spiderman universe
GirshwinDavies
GirshwinDavies - 2/4/2022, 8:54 AM
@dracula - just afraid they'll do him another disservice in that one. I pulled for the Venom movies and wanted the second one to surpass the first with Andy Serkis at the helm. Hopefully Morbius will be good? I bet Sony and Marvel Studios strike a deal on creative control over the Villains going forward.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 2/4/2022, 9:47 AM
@dracula - agreed. Would just be weird to have all the villains running around without a Spider-Man. The solution pretty much presents itself here
Fanmar16
Fanmar16 - 2/4/2022, 6:44 AM
I think Sony is going to leave Andrew in the universe of his villains and Holland in the MCU universe, in the future they will cross paths again, but the idea of separating universes would be great, both for Sony and for the MCU

Jackal and Gwen clone to appear in Amazing Spider-Man 3

@Repian - there something give fans fantasy wet dreams at night make Gwen show up naked in clone saga
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 2/4/2022, 9:39 AM
@Repian - was thinking the same thing. About Jackal as the villain though. Not naked Gwen, but I would be lying if I didn't want that too.

Not clone Gwen though, just Spider-Gwen.

Remember, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was going to be more of the "untold story" with Peter's parents that no one liked and probably would have been overstuffed with subplots.

As much as Andrew Garfield kicked it out of the park in No Way Home, this seems like a Monkey's Paw at best.
Origame
Origame - 2/4/2022, 7:57 AM
@Darkknight2149 - ...why do you think we're asking for the original idea and everything? Most people just want to see garfield as Spiderman again.
Darkknight2149
Darkknight2149 - 2/4/2022, 8:26 AM

Sony still owns the rights. Unless it's Kevin Feige executive producing a miniseries on Disney Plus, I doubt it would be what you are hoping for.
Origame
Origame - 2/4/2022, 8:34 AM
@Darkknight2149 - Sony were the ones not happy with tasm2. I'm not saying it's gonna be good (it will be Sony after all) but acting like they're gonna go ahead with their original plans after all this time is pretty foolish thinking.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 2/4/2022, 9:46 AM
@Darkknight2149 - they should really tie up that whole bit about his parents ASAP so they could focus on something new (hopefully Spider-Gwen).

Do think that deleted scene with his father was really good though

Garfield was never the problem, the story was.

@Origame -
Because regardless of whatever perfect movie you have in your head, that's what was being set up and where the franchise was headed. There was actually a few different versions of Amazing Spider-Man 3 before Sony made the deal with Marvel.

Also, if Sony tries to do the Clone Saga in the Marc Webb universe, the comment section is going to be wall-to-wall complaining and doom posting. One of the messiest and most panned Spider-Man storylines as The Amazing Spider-Man 3. I'm sure that would go over well.
Origame
Origame - 2/4/2022, 3:30 PM
@Darkknight2149 - so what if that's what they set up for? That was nearly 10 years ago. I'd believe them tying it into the venomverse before them doing their original plans. Especially since it's clear they've learned one thing: people respond better to simpler stories.

Also, the reason why the clone saga has been panned is because they overextended it. In fact people genuinely want that story in some form in films, whether it's with Holland or garfield or whoever.
Darkknight2149
Darkknight2149 - 2/4/2022, 7:30 PM

A clone plot in a Sony Amazing Spider-Man film is a disaster waiting to happen. Also, the "Untold Story" is the lynch pin of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man films. I don't see it getting dropped.

It doesn't sound like you want The Amazing Spider-Man 3, so much as you want "random Spider-Man spin-off starring Andrew Garfield." And unless Kevin Feige does it, you probably wouldn't like what Sony does anyway.
Origame
Origame - 2/4/2022, 8:23 PM
@Darkknight2149 - 1) really don't see how that's any worse of a possibility than any other Spiderman story. It's Sony regardless and as long as it doesn't make the same mistake of being over a decade long like the comics, bare minimum it would've fixed that problem.

2) yeah, and it was also the reason tasm2 bombed. They know this.

3) either way, it'll be the amazing spiderman 3. Why? Because it's the third amazing spiderman movie.
