The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

i've come to the conclusion that emma stone is not hot. it took awhile, and a lot of back and forth but gun to my head - she just doesn't do it for me. i must live in some backward-ass nerd realm where people nit-pick and put down amy adams and say emma stone is hot.

@Loganxx36: First it's a reboot not a remake. Second Emma Stone is hotter than Kirsten Dunst. Third he does look like Peter/Spider-Man, especially Ultimate. Fourth, Spider-Man 4 was going to be bollocks. Fifth, why waste your time with this film ? You clearly have no interest in seeing it.

Either stop whining that Raimi has not returned and be optimistic or just don't bother wasting your time with this film. Simples.

You are clearly an idiot. Emma Stone looks damn near perfect for the role of Gwen. Sexy as hell with big gorgeous eyes.

Also Rami's Spider-Man trilogy raped Spider-Man. The first was ok, but two and three ruined two of my favorite villains and portrayed Peter as a cry baby. Dunst was an ok MJ at best. Surely you didn't think she was the perfect embodiment of Mary-Jane Watson? Have you ever read a comic?

This movie will hopefully do justice to Spider-Man. We have already seen that his sarcasm is much better, they started in high school were they should have, and started with Gwen Stacey as Pete's first love (who may I remind you, set up Pete's relationship with MJ).

Go read the original comics.

I hope this movie is good, but costume and Peter's hair will be a distraction. Physically he looks more like Spider-Man. If the movie is good enough, I won't care about his tall hair and costume changes.
