Straight from the comics! It's the first morning of his super power discovery. He's walking to school/library or whatever and a car comes behind him. He's oblivious to it because of the earphones, but his spider-sense lets him know of it. He jumps out of the way and lands on a lamp post! Genius!

@Scorpion Guess how old Tobey was when he played in Spider-Man? 27. How old is Andrew? 27. They realize that Andrew's getting older, that's why they're making the sequel so quick. Plus, if you're really going to judge an entire movie production based on one person's hair, I really shouldn't even bother with you...
