Closer Look At Will Smith In 'Deadshot' Mask And Costume On The SUICIDE SQUAD Set

Much better images have surfaced from yesterday's filming of Suicide Squad that show Will Smith (and not his stunt double) in action and in full costume as Deadshot. Check it out after the jump!

Previous set photos and videos from yesterday's filming of Suicide Squad had caught the action from a distance, but now it appears that someone got good closeup shots of leading man Will Smith in Deadshot's full costume and mask. It was believed to be a stunt double shooting the scene in which Deadshot repels down a building and lands in an apparent getaway vehicle, but these photos via the Daily Mail show that it might have been the Fresh Prince all along. What do you think?

Directed by David Ayer from his script, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang),
Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Jessie Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), with Raymond Olubawale (King Shark), Jay Hernandez, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, and Scott Eastwood. The film releases on August 5, 2016!

That's obviously Will Smith. The mask is really starting to grow on me. Looks bad ass IMO

Looks like a molded head cast for burn victims.

Damn, I was sure it'd be a stunt double. Good on Will Smith for doing it himself!

Maybe it's because I just started the first season of Arrow and their version of Deadshot is complete shit, but I couldn't be happier with Will Smith's Deadshot. Mask and all.

Wait till you see Arrow's Ra's. Won't lie though, dude playing him wasn't half bad and did look badass.

I like the mask, it's badass. Does anyone else think Waller is gonna give them upgrades?

@LEVITIKUZ Is it just me, or does he actually kind of look like a young Liam Neeson? It's probably just the facial hair haha, but still.

@Jeight

He was trained by Ra's for about a month and was trained by Malcolm for about 2-3 months before that final dual. I don't see what's so shocking about Ra's al Ghul's defeat.

@SauronsBANE

Which episode(s) have you seen of Deadshot? Imo, Michael Rowe made Deadshot his own by the time he was killed off and added many layers to the character between S1, S2 and S3. Smith will have to prove himself because already the costume looks bad. Call it simple or not, but at least Rowe had the eyepiece on the right eye, lol.

@supes123 Most definitely, she's going to give them all the new and upgraded gear for when they break out. Tactical shit lol The action scenes will be killer too, I want this film to be brutal.

Is it just me or does Deadshots mask look like a big baseball with eyes in it?
SauronsBANE

@MisterSuperior I'm still only on season 1, so I've seen that first episode he appears in (and then promptly gets an arrow through his eye piece haha), and the one where he's hired to take out people during one of the Queen family's get-togethers with a bunch of rich people, I forget exactly what it was about. But clearly he's about to be in a bunch more episodes now, because the last episode I saw had Diggle and Oliver agree to team up to take him down again.

He really hasn't had all that much screen-time yet, so I'm sure he gets better.

Since the head gear isn't armored and the uniform has no white they should have gone with a black mask.

Well it's white in the comics and makes him stand out.

deadsmiths mask looks shitty, white totally clashes with the red & black

I like the costume. I just really don't want to see Deadshot as a Christian. I respect him too much.

@SauronsBANE

Those two episodes(and I'm such a huge fan of Arrow, I could name every single episode so far...but then again, I can do the same with Supernatural and Hannibal as well, haha) felt, to me at least, just Deadshot's origins. Now, that doesn't mean that the episodes detailed Floyd's past, but I am referring to the name only of Deadshot. The proto eyepiece that changes in S1 and him becoming more of a (Green) Arrow stable villain. I'm sure as you're aware of, Deadshot is no longer in the series because of some asinine reasoning from DC that apparently people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Caucasian Deadshot and an African-American Deadshot, lol, but the character certainly grows in a limited amount of episodes for three seasons. You even get a sense, that you find out later in S2, of why Deadshot does what he does. If you go back to his first appearance, when 'The Hood' says something about how Deadshot does what he does for himself, he stalls. That's hinting at another reason, which you find out next season.

I just hate it that he will not be a villain for when Ollie finally becomes Green Arrow this coming season, and I blame DC for that.

Should've been a black or at least a dark grey like Arkham Origins.

@AlexanderLykins

I saw it myself. Didn't think it would be a box office sensation, and while I understand the criticism of the film just feeling like one prolonged episode of the series...I actually preferred it and knew it'd be the case. The film shouldn't feel any different than how the series felt.

It wouldn't look right if the mask was black tbh. I think it looks just fine

@MisterSuperior Hmm, interesting stuff! It was just so jarring that his first-ever appearance in the show seemed like such a massive waste, but I always figured they'd just bring him back anyway. Can't wait to see how he improves.

And yeah, what a dumb policy. That's literally the biggest advantage to having a separate TV and movie universe - theoretically, you should be able to have complete creative freedom on both sides because none of it is connected to the other. Instead, they apparently think the vast majority of audiences are idiots who can't differentiate between Will Smith and Michael Rowe haha.
