With
Suicide Squad released, many got to see Jared Leto's version of the Joker on screen and while he wasn't in the film itself for long his portrayal faced some mixed reviews among fans, but it is clear as day that Jared has potential which (sadly) wasn't displayed in Suicide Squad, properly. In an interview with
BBC Radio 5, he said he filmed enough footage for a Joker film and how he wishes SKWAD was much more than a PG-13 flick. When asked about what villain he would like to team-up, he answered with...Batman?
"
I think that the most compelling character to team up with would be Batman,” Leto says. “I
know he’s not a villain, but it would just be so much fun". Leto continued "
The thing about this film is, for a lot of people, the Joker is exciting when he’s pulling the strings,” Leto goes on. “
In this film, it’s more of an introduction to the Joker. As the film stands now, it’s much more of a supporting part than a lot of people may have assumed. It feels like there could be more to come".
When asked if the Joker would make a comeback to the DC Extended Universe he said this: "I think it entirely depends upon the response of the public,” Leto says. “If they respond to this Joker, I can imagine the Joker coming back. But if they don’t, I certainly wouldn’t want to overstay my welcome.” Then he said that he shot enough footage as the character that it could warrant a Joker solo film. Leto says:"I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene that it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie. If I were to die tomorrow, maybe the studio would roll something out..".
He continued about how he wished strived towards more adult territory with an R-Rating for Suicide Squad."I always wished this film was Rated R, and I had actually said that when we were starting that if a film was ever going to be rated R it should be the one about the villains,".
