The Suicide Squad is a team of imprisoned super-villains who perform high-risk missions for the U.S. Government in exchange for commuted sentences. They are formally known as Task Force X. The team's actions are highly classified, and the government is able to deny any involvement by claiming that they are not responsible for the damages of a random super-villain attack. Their commander is Amanda Waller, who runs the organization out of Belle Reve prison. The Suicide Squad was created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru, first appearing in Brave and the Bold #25. Your right! Probably end up calling them "Task Force X" like they did in JLU.

WB/DC are the ones who leaking these scripts to test what people think about the scripts. we going to get big news coming from WB/DC this year.

also what ever happen to Justin Mark? ever since he worked on Street Fighter legend of Chun-Li no one ever heard from him again lol.

@McNyagano

They're getting released or "leaked", my theory, because DC/WB is probing the market for what will work. They want to see what the fans react to. It's market research, which is why huge studios have leaks a lot of the time. It's no accident and it's not enterprising employees getting the best of them.

They're testing their market. They watch this site, among others, for our reactions to what they do. Batman-on-film even had a slight role to play in how TDK looked and felt different from Begins.

They're using their greatest resource, the passionate and knowledgeable fan base, people who know more and care more about these characters and stories than anyone else. Notice how much better CBMs have gotten since they've been getting written by, produced by, directed by, and starring people who are genuine fans?

Just look at how Green Lantern sucked. Ang Lee's Hulk sucked. But The Dark Knight trilogy, Iron Man, Avengers, Man Of Steel, and even Thor were made by people who loved the stories and characters and who had massive respect for the source material.

But you don't get directors and actors until it's greenlit. They use these leaks and our reactions to them to shape the projects. Trust me.

DC really shouldn't be looking to adapt this. First the main characters, the move on from there.

The new 52 SS has Harley Quinn.

This could be an interesting DC movie if done right. Just please make Waller huge and scary. I hate how anorexic Amanda Waller is these days. She can even scare Batman but with how she is now not anymore.

The problem with using Harley in a SS movie would be that she'd have to be established by her connection to Joker and Batman first. If DC/WB wants to create an expanded film universe, a Suicide Squad movie would be an awesome addition later on. But Harley especially would have to have a background established first. The others, regardless of the heroes from whose rogue's galleries they originate, could be depicted without a lot of background.

But first, it would help if they established a world in which there were enough supervillains to justify a prison full of them.

And Harkness isn't Gambit, godammit. He uses boomerangs, not plasma energy constructs. That just looks stupid.

As long as they have Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, maybe Vertigo and Bronze Tiger, I'm down!

I wouldn't mind a big screen Suicide Squad- could be fun. Would like it a little dark and bloody with an R rating. Won't happen though

I think there's potential here but it has a few problems. #1 lack of big names...dead shot and Vixen are the only recognizable members (besides Waller) so far. Add Deathstroke as the lead and some others and it could work. #2 is the meta humans. They sound way too close to X-men powers and not original. DC needs to stay semi-realistic and steer away from too much fantastical powers like Vixen's in my opinion.

This could be WB/DC answer to Guardians of the Galaxy. i mean it features a team people really dont know much about and it's gritty which most people like. It's a great move on their part. I for one approve of this movie.

This is awful.

It reads awful. The characters are awful (and flat, and boring, and largely generic). It sounds like it would make an awful movie. And as we've seen from Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (another large-ensemble film written by Marks), it probably doesn't get any better.

MAN, I hope they don't make this.

The way I would approach it would be to have a couple Justice Leaguer movies (Man of Steel, Batman, Wonder Women, etc) and have a few of the secondary villains be pursued for the Suicide Squad. It would make it easier for us to connect to the villains because we will have already been familiar with them.

Im loving the news Im hearing from DC. IMHO, DC is going to own the comic book industry (sorry MCU).

Or Viola Davis would be amazing too. CCH Pounder would be great as well.

Whatever they do they need to make sure that if they use deadshot or any other character that is in Arrow, then they need to connect it to Arrow. The the DC TV and cinematic universes MUST be the same!

Deadshot + Boomerang + Waller + cannon fodder = Suicide Squad. Looks good to me so far.
