Last night, James Gunn took to social media to reveal the full cast of
The Suicide Squad. As well as a handful of names from the 2016 movie, there are a long list of new additions to the franchise and it definitely appears that this will be a sequel of sorts to the Oscar-winning DC Comics movie.
Regardless of whether it's a sequel, reboot, or a bit of both,
Suicide Squad director David Ayer made it clear on Twitter last night that he's excited to see what Gunn does with Task Force X.
For a time, it appeared as if Ayer would return to the DC Extended Universe for
Gotham City Sirens, a movie that would have put the spotlight on Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. That ultimately became
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), so it now seems like the filmmaker's time in this comic book world is at an end.
The filmmaker also jumped to the defence of Suicide Squad after one critic decided to tear into the first instalment following that cast announcement from Gunn about the follow-up.
How do you feel about
Suicide Squad? Do you think the movie deserves to be forgotten when this reboot is released or were critics far too harsh? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
