SUICIDE SQUAD: New Look At Joker And Harley Quinn From David Ayer's Cut Possibly Revealed

Filmmaker David Ayer continues to push for Warner Bros. to #ReleaseTheAyerCut, and a new image which has started doing the rounds shows what could be an alternate ending for his DC Comics adaptation!

Suicide Squad ended with The Joker breaking into Belle Reve Prison and freeing Harley Quinn. Clearly set up to be a surprise twist ending after the villain's apparent death in Midway City, it meant Harley was freed from captivity and once again able to cause chaos alongside her Puddin'.

That wasn't the film's original ending, however. As filmmaker David Ayer has recently established, The Joker was going to align himself with Enchantress in exchange for him and Harley being made the King and Queen of Gotham City. Instead, Harley refused, and stayed loyal to Task Force X.

An image believed from the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad shows that breakout, albeit with a slightly different twist. It almost looks as if The Joker is taunting or tormenting Harley, an indication that he would have come looking for revenge during this breakout after she spurned his earlier advances.

Reshoots likely changed this, and instead gave the couple a "happy" ending. That didn't last long once Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) was released.

@kider - am I the only one very confused by what they just watched? I spent the whole thing trying to figure out if they were kidding or serious and I’m still not sure.

@connorblaze - It's a fan film with the Hawkman & Hawkgirl actors from Legends of Tomorrow. Its them in character but it also seems to be a Blockbuster commercial? It is really odd.

“The Joker was meant to align himself with Enchantress in exchange for him and Harley being made the King and Queen of Gotham City.”

Seems kind of lame for the Joker to be subservient to a D list villain, but whatever.

@Chewtoy - does make sense for him to realise when he can spin something to his own advantage and be an opportunist.

@Twenty23Three - Unless we see the context for it if that footage exists, it hope it's done in that way like you've said.

However, after watching End of Watch and Bright (a film I liked and a film I didn't like respectively), his villains almost always suck.

Ayer can seriously get lost with this "deep, layered, complex movie you conveniently have never seen and I get to brag about it for a whole year" bullshit.

He played along with WB the last 3 years. Doesn't matter if he signed a contract, not even Snyder said anything like he did (if anything at all).

I cannot believe people are encouraging the crap he's saying. He literally sounds like Josh Trank. If it was him or anyone else, people would be laughing.

Only joker scene I enjoyed in this movie was Harley's vision of them as homemakers, with their child, de-acid bathed. Eerie and inspired.

Pretty sure this is just another pic from that HQ prison breakout scene at the end...

You can see Leto's police helmet.
