THE SUICIDE SQUAD Actress Alice Braga Addresses Those Early Poison Ivy Rumors

Back when James Gunn was rounding out the cast of The Suicide Squad, a rumor did the rounds that one late addition to the ensemble, Alice Braga, might be playing Poison Ivy. This was quickly shut down by Gunn himself on Twitter, but it sounds like Braga did like the idea of suiting-up as the plant-controlling Batman villain.

While speaking to Digital Spy about the movie, Braga - who actually plays Corto Maltese rebel leader Sol Soria - brought Ivy up when asked which other DC character she'd like to play if given the opportunity.

"People were asking James [Gunn] if I was Poison Ivy," she said, referencing that early rumor. "The more I read about it then I was like, that's interesting, it's a good villain. I think that would be cool."

Poison Ivy has appeared in live-action a couple of times, with Uma Thurman taking on the role in Batman and Robin, and Clare Foley, Maggie Geha and Peyton List playing a version of the character in Gotham. Both Birds of Prey director Cathy Yan and star Margot Robbie have expressed interest in introducing the villain in a potential sequel, but the future of that franchise is very much up in the air at the moment.

Do you think Braga would be a good fit for the role? Drop us a comment in the usual place, and be sure to check out our 5-star review of The Suicide Squad at the link below.
