THE SUICIDE SQUAD Adds A WRINKLE IN TIME Actress Storm Reid As Idris Elba's Daughter

The latest addition to the cast of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is 16-year-old A Wrinkle in Time star, Storm Reid.

THR broke the news but don't provide any details on who she has signed on to play. They do, however, mention that she will be portraying the daughter of Idris Elba's character. Unfortunately, we have no idea who that is either!

Reid joins John Cena, David Dastmalchian, and returning stars Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis.

Plot details remain under wraps, but we may get a better idea of what to expect fairly soon as production is expected to commence in September.

In addition to AWIT, Reid has appeared in Ava DuVernay’s Netflix docu-drama When They See Us, and can currently be seen starring alongside Spider-Man: Far From Home's Zendaya on HBO’s controversial teen drama, Euphoria.

Why is this movie coming out in August 2021 if it's gonna be ready in time for late 2020?

@tmp3 - So WB has enough time to butcher it.

@tmp3 - Maybe WB wants to keep their DC output at 2 films a year? BOP and WW84 in 2020 then Suicide Squad and The Battinson...I mean Batman in 2021.

Then Aquaman 2 will be one of the 2 in 2022, most likely with Shazam 2 being the other.

@LongMayHeReign - New Gods starts shooting in 2020, what's gonna happen with that lmao. Ditto Black Adam.

@tmp3 - Then New Gods will be the second 2022 film then Black Adam the first in 2023 most likely.

@LongMayHeReign - I still hope they shlef The New Gods. We heard very little of it for almost a year after announcing Ava Duvernay as director. About 2 months ago they come out and say that Tom King is helping her write it. That helps ease a little worry, but blockbuster doesn't seem to be her wheel house. I'd let her handle any biopic she would like to though.

@inkniron - Ava was in pre-production of her Netflix show when she got hired for New Gods. Of course she couldn't seriously get to work on New Gods until that show was done.

@inkniron - Yea I don't have any faith in it at all (I feel the same about BOP) but I feel like WB will push it thru anyway.

Hope I'm wrong tho, if they are still trying to connect these at all that's like having Eternals before Winter Soldier (Man of Steel 2/Superman reboot).

@tmp3 -

Its possible WB is keeping the option open of going to 3 movies in
2020 since Marvel would be putting out a lower profile slate next
year compared to this year.

Birds of Prey is in Feb, Wonder Woman could have dropped as DC film 3
for this year but is getting pushed to June 2020. Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn, could give WB the confidence to go for
2 summer films in a year without The Avengers or Spider-Man.
It could come out in early August 2020 and free up August 2021
for Black Adam or The Flash.

Really seems like they have recast Deadshot with Idris Elba therefore she could be his daughter. Or maybe not and it'll turn out they are semi borrowing from Arrow's book and Idris Elba will play Bronze Tiger but instead of having a son like in the show here he will have a daughter. No one would throw a fit over canon just for a detail such as that one if it turned out to be true.

@NinnesMBC - It sounds like it is both. Gunn definitely wrote Draft 1 to be Deadshot, so I wouldn't be surprised if the kid angle was the part Gunn found most interesting and therefore kept whenever he changed Deadshot to Bronze Tiger or whoever the new male lead that Elba's playing is going to be.

I don't remember whether or not she was good in Wrinkle in Time because I was constantly being distracted by how [frick]ing terrible the kid playing her brother was.

@MUTO123 - I could see that (it's hard not to be in a movie with performances that range from bland to annoying), but I thought her and Chris Pine were the best part of that flick.

@demery - Chris Pine's also the best Chris

There is only one best Chris and his ass represents an entire country.

@Battabing - As a "thicc" fella myself I will say your statement...sad but true!

Yet, no one can achieve the "American Dream" anymore so I guess we can't achieve America's Ass either.

@MUTO123 - Hers and Chris's characters were the only good ones. Everyone else was either bad or bland. When the little brother had went bad he reminded me of a more annoying over the top version of Pride from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
