DC Officially Confirms That James Gunn Is Writing "A Completely Fresh Take" On SUICIDE SQUAD 2

Coming off reports that James Gunn is set to write and possibly direct the Suicide Squad sequel, it's been officially confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy director has jumped ship from Marvel to DC.

The latest episode of DC Daily has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has indeed jumped ship from Marvel to DC, and will pen the script for Suicide Squad 2. There's no mention of the possibility of him helming the sequel, however.

Seemingly gelling with rumors that the follow-up to David Ayer's divisive supervillain team-up flick will actually be a reboot of sorts, the report also states that Gunn will deliver "a completely fresh take to the franchise" - although this probably just means that he'll be taking things in a different direction with a brand new story rather than completely rebooting with a new cast etc.

Original director Gavin O'Conner and screenwriters Todd Stashwick and David Bar Katz had delivered a finished script, but unfortunately for them the plot turned out to be too similar to Cathy Yan's pitch for Birds of Prey.

It remains to be seen what Gunn has in store for Task Force X, but it should be an interesting take at the very least.

"a completely fresh take to the franchise"

So they're not going to be a team of incarcerated supervillains who carry out secret missions in exchange for reduced prison sentences?

Interesting... Finally some sort of resolve. Killer Croc would be perfect for Dave.

@Aquamoa18 - He would be perfect as a younger playboy named Lex Luthor.

@guyatadesk - He never said he'd want to be Lex. Hell I highly doubt he'd want to shave his head again for the role. Thats one of the main reasons why he left Smallville in the first place.

@Himura and @aquamoa18- I was kidding about him playing lex. He was great on Smallville but that show was great because I was in middle school / high school. Besides does lex have to be bald? Is that really an important character traits?

@guyatadesk - I agree he'd make a great Eobard Thawne, although that probably wouldn't be a wise character to throw into Suicide Squad. He could play a good Capt Cold.

How does this happen though?

The Snapees are brought back but still need to deal with Thanos and he takes out some(for real) before being stopped, one of them being Drax. He's out and onto DC.
