First of all, people have not accepted that this is a new modern take of Superman! There is not hardly any flaws to this film. It seems as though people can not forget the Christopher Reeve Superman. The first one is a great film but not perfect. When you compare it by today's standards, there are much better superhero films that have out passed it. People need to accept that this is something much more different. When Superman Returns came out, the critics loved it, but the fans hated it. The fans saw what was wrong with the film. It was too much like what the first Superman movie was. It felt like you were watching the same movie all over again. People were wanting something different. It was time for a change. That is what Man of Steel has brought us.

The second thing is that the critics hate this film and some of the fans do too! They have become more and more nit picky over the years and it has gotten on my nerves! The things they see that is wrong with this movie is Superman does not save everyone. There is way too much destruction. Superman should not have killed General Zod. If any of you have read the comics, then you really should not have any problem with these things! I have read some comics that these things happen in. The writers and film makers wanted to make Superman more vulnerable instead of being the perfect superhero that everyone has always know! The destruction in the film has happened in the comics. So what is the big deal? And Superman killing General Zod should not be a problem either. He had no other options to stop him from killing innocent people! Do you not remember what happened at the end of The Dark Knight? Batman killed Harvey Dent because he was about to kill Gordon's son. It was the same type of situation that Superman was in! They both did not kill the villains in cold blood. They did what they had to do!

The last thing is the fans have been asking for a Superman film like this for a long time! I thought the movie was very touching and dramatic, especially in the first hour of the film! There was also great action. I thought the best performances in this film were from Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon! When I saw Superman fly for the very first time in the movie, it was so epic and fascinating! I also thought the special effects in the film were amazing! The fight sequences were great! All of these things that are in the film, you should like! There was just one small flaw. When the villains were making Earth into more like Krypton, how did General Swanswick know about Krypton? Superman never told them that he was from there when he first met him and the military. But it is just a minor flaw that does not bother me.

Overall this film is amazing and I consider it to be one of the best superhero films of all time. I have now watched it countless times. It is one of my favorites. So why do fans and critics not like this movie?

Seen the film a number times. Enjoy it every time. But that's just me.

Yes Superman tops my list, but in the end I enjoy both universes.

However, the unrelenting comparisons of characters or past incarnations is really upsetting. Most since MOS hit the screens.

Yes like most I was thrown by its ending. But when fans starting posting comparisons of why their hero was better because he doesn't kill. Maybe, for some that has been true. Not for all however.

Take the example you posted, Batman. I've read more than my share of posts saying that Batman only has 1 rule and he never breaks it. Please.

1989: ties joker to gargoyle of cathedral, subsequently killing the joker.

Batman returns: straps bomb to penguins hentchman/uses batmobile to set another on fire (likely dead).

Batman forever: uses hand full of coins to kill two face.

Batman begins: admits to refusing to save Ra's al ghul, thus killing him. TDK: Harvey Dent, broken neck.

TDKR: useing the bat he cause Talia to crash and die.

Now I'm a huge batman fan, as much as I am Superman. It just gets under my skin when posts don't reflect any in depth research or background.

Of course being balanced, MOS has it's low points. But every CBM does. Name one that doesn't and there'll be a flurry of counterarguements. Best keep some things unsaid.

Critics. People. Let us have our favorites that we can watch countless times. And we'll let you have yours.

ReeferInferno,

I am sorry, but I just have no idea how fans enjoyed IM3, and how anyone enjoyed it more than MOS. IM3 was a "superhero" movie without the actual superhero in the movie.

Iron Man 3 was a stupid comedy, it was like I was watching Scary Movie 6 with some of the shit they pulled.

@reeferinferno, You might need to take it easy on the ganja. You obviously watched a different movie than the rest of the world. Damsels in distress don't chase down a lead looking for an alien. They definitely don't agree to tag along on a space ship that only 24 hours earlier threatened the entire planet and then single handedly take on a shipload of Kryptonian soldiers. Yes Lois needed saving, when she got shot by that drone on the scout ship and after she fell out of that helicopter but I'd hardly call that "damsel in distress". Also not sure you know what a sociopath is. A person who would give his own life because he believes that his adopted son's life depended on it? Not really a "sociopath".

I wouldn't have cared so much about all the destruction if there was a big hopeful Superman moment at the end but it just never came.

Batman's great, but Superman isn't Batman.

Oh yea and I was wondering that about Stanwick too, it'd be cool if he turns out to be Martian Manhunter.
