Cameron Cuffe Will Play Superman's Grandfather Seg-El In Syfy's KRYPON Pilot

Krypton has finally found its male lead (and a character the show hopes to make very important in Superman canon) in the form of Cameron Cuffe. Hit the jump for details on his role in the series.

It was early last month that we learned Georgina Campbell will play Lyta Zod in Syfy's planned Krypton pilot, and the network has today revealed the show's second major casting addition as British actor Cameron Cuffe. He'll play Seg-El (which has to be a nod to Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, right?), but is a relative unknown on both sides of the pond with only a few acting credits to his name.

Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel's home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El - whose House of El was ostracized and shamed - as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. It's not clear whether or not the show will have any ties to the DC Films Universe of The CW's Supergirl, but it seems highly unlikely.

Some additional character details have now been revealed as an official description reveals the following: "Destined to be the ancestor of Jor-El (future father of Superman) and Kal-El (the future Superman), Seg-El is the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical; he is now living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank."

It sounds pretty interesting, but will it work? We'll have to wait and see.

We all know this will probably be cancelled after one or two seasons.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Impossible. Look at Arrow -- coming up on 100 episodes and no signs of getting cancelled, even with Felicity still breathing.
