Henry Cavill On Amy Adams' Lois Lane And The 10 Year Age Difference!

The Superman actor talks in detail about how the comic books will influence his performance as the Man of Steel and comments on Amy Adams as Lois Lane, including the fact that she's a decade older than him...

"I'm just picking out as much as I possibly can from the comic book history because obviously it's plastered across there as to who this man is and whatever part of his life you're playing; whatever part of his ultimate journey you're playing, you just need to put in either the building aspects, the building blocks to how he ends up, all those key characteristics that are carried through and so it's just picking up a general idea of what he is and then working from there."

"Yes, there was a screen test and she's a fantastic actress. Very talented. I'm looking forward to working with her. To be honest, that's a question for the director. But, happenstance. I don't think it matters at all."

Starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Superman: The Man of Steel is expected to be released sometime during the Winter of 2012!

This film will be a one off. Can't wait untill the rights bs is sorted out then WB can proceed with making a true modern Superman trilogy with ALL facets of Superman lore in place, instead of the leftovers they've got at the minute.

i've never seen him act before so i'm not being judgmental on that aspect but i do know that he was a fan favorite for many so i'm confident that he can pull it off but PLEASE GOD let him hit the gym and hit it HARD! he is way too small to be playing superman, imo. i'm not saying that superman is supposed to be as big as Arnold, but he should be a lot bigger than this guy. but with nolan attached i'm sure it will be an amazing movie!

Friggin hell....I look to this short and slim guy and think : HOW THE HELL CAN SOMEONE ENVISION HIM AS SUPERMAN????

Damn...not even in his wildest dreams, and even after TONS of steroids injected on EVERY GODDAMNED MUSCLE of his CHICKEN SLIM BODY, this guy NEVER WILL DO JUSTICE to the CHARACTER REAL LOOK.

And, no...to hell with stupid and unreal Photoshop manips fanboys usually love to show!

Not that Routh did it...we know it was ridiculous (ok, ok, Reeve wasnt big too - but at least he HAD THE FACE and HEIGHT...and the right costume, course), but why the hell they discarded Manganiello???

Cmon, man...it was the time to do something GOOD!!!!!

Snyder must be hallucinating. Theres no other explanation to this GIANT [frick]up.

i have faith that this movie is going to be epic!I am simply frustrated that it seems that we are only going to get a 1 movie deal and not a trilogy and then not even the same SUPERMAN for the JLA when it happens. Hopefully whoever makes the final decision over at WB can pull their head out of NOLANS ARSE and will have better judgment for us fans sake.

Regarding Cavill////hes a great pick and aside from being a brit i have noticed that he has alot of the same mannerisms as the late REEVE. So i am excited to see him as big blue....im just hot to the touch that decisions regarding him and JLA have already seemingly been made and not in our favor...it just SUCKS.

Also please check out my JLA editorial if you havent already for a fresh new take on how JLA SHOULD BE produced for us.

I think WB had every good intention about making a super huge JLA movie that would be tied in by the solo movies like marvel... but they lost a bet to FOX

@naterator- I'm...surprised. Originally you wanted more donner influence in this movie and you wanted routh to be Superman and you made remarks you wanted someone who looked like bosworth to be Lois Lane. No offense...but you did a total 360 on me with your sudden- pro MOS comment. lol. Nonetheless this movie is turning out just how i wanted it from the start- a fresh, REBOOT of everything and zero donner influence too.

But yeah, this movie will be great. I just wish Cavill could say more. Him talking about Amy Adams and the comic books is nothing new... -_-

I don't mind this film being a 1-shot. As long as it fixes the mess left by 'Superman Returns'

@ naterator.

How do you know she'll have black hair.

in some comic adaptations she has red hair. Especially David Byrne's 90's comics.

thegreek - 4/5/2011, 9:00 AM
I'm with NAV...This dude is way to small and slim to be Superman...

He will look pathetic compared to RR and Christian Bale .. Superman is suppose to look overpowering to those guys... I hope the movie is Epic but I have my doubts about his dude... Geez even Routh was bigger then this guy ... And what's with the curly hair ... i am sad... :(

And as who I would prefer ... it would have been Paul Telfer

Paul telfer

This dude would have been a great superman ... and he has acted in quite a few places and wasn't even considered it is a shame

TheLight - 4/5/2011, 9:09 AM
@blackcelebration - Actually, 90's Lois had a auburn color to her hair.
@thegreek - Paul Telfer had the look to play Superman, that's a fact. Hopefully Cavill will at least look something like that. Maybe he's letting it grow so when it's time, he'll get it cut, dyed and fashioned for the movie.
LP4
LP4 - 4/5/2011, 9:12 AM
furthermore @naterator- You are pissed that they are only making this into a 1-shot film. Yet you gotta admit- Singer is to blame. WB even admitted that had Superman Returns worked in 2006, they would have had a sequel by Christmas 2009 and the 3rd film by 2012 (just in time for the Siegel lawsuit of 2013 to hit)

Singer screwed up so badly, he ruined the chance for Superman to have a full-on trilogy. I mean his film was so bad it kept the Superman franchise laying dormant for the past 4 years because WB just didn't know what to do with it after Singer ruined it.

Anyway like I said- I still find it kind of funny that you are suddenly "on-board" with this film, when just a few months ago you were fighting for Routh to be Superman, Spacey and Bosworth to all reprise their roles and you wanted more Donner influence. You were against everything this film was going for in fact one time you said you preferred a sequel to Superman Returns over a reboot and yet NOW you are suddenly like "this film will be epic!!!"

And to top it off- you made an article one time, telling everyone that you wanted Gene Hackman to return for this film as Lex Luthor- DESPITE the fact that mister Hackman is already in his late 80's. Why pit a 20 somethin year old Superman against an 80 somethin year old Lex Luthor???

No offense dude but a little consistency would be appreciated.

Akercocke@, Id prefer to see Manganiello or even Daniel Cudmore (the Colossus of X-Men original movies).

thegreek@: agree!
Ryden

In response to the Amy Adams question he should have just said "Mate, milf"....and been done with it...:)
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 4/5/2011, 9:36 AM
Cudmore would have been too tall to somewhat fit in with the regular folk, but Joe had the picture perfect physique and stature for the Man of Steel. For the broken nose comments, there are plenty of images where it doesn't really show much and a broken nose is easier to fix on screen than to make someone look the stature that Cavill should need to have. No amount of working out is going to increase his frame or stature because he isn't going to be able to add a couple inches to his torso to give him that imposing stature. He's just not a very big guy.

Things seem to be pointing to a one-shot movie which is fine with me. There are a lot of unknowns out there that could fit the bill for Superman, but I think they wanted to go with someone a little more established, though not overly known in order to pull off a solo film. I guess time will tell. We know there is no JLA in Cavill's future though, which is a good thing. Green Lantern should not be more imposing than Superman.
Facade
Facade - 4/5/2011, 9:48 AM
@Ranger You nailed with your comment about GL being more imposing than Cavill's Superman. How funny is that.
Lewis25
Lewis25 - 4/5/2011, 9:52 AM
I have only seen Cavill in Count of Monte Cristo, but I have faith in Snyder.I would rather have seen Owain Yeoman as Superman he is 6'4" and has that boyscout look of Superman.
DarkSuperman
DarkSuperman - 4/5/2011, 10:02 AM
Watch the Tudors, he's very Supermanly in that.
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 4/5/2011, 10:06 AM
@Ryden - agreed!

Makeup can easily have them looking the same age. If your worried about sequels don't be. Amy is sure to age like a fine wine and if she is looking a touch older than Cavil in a movie or two then use it! Superman ages slowly and it could be good to see Lois concerned about how she's ageing while Clark is looking forever young.
Nav
Nav - 4/5/2011, 10:14 AM
Amy is gorgeous...she has mouth and eyes so expressive as if it were pencilled by Leinil Francis Wu...and shes quite a MILF, no doubts on that!
Trapdinsteel
Trapdinsteel - 4/5/2011, 10:15 AM
@thegreek - Paul Telfer is the same height as Cavill. Under Snyders direction for 300 he made sure all of those guys were jacked especially Butler as the lead, so I have a little faith that Cavill will be hitting the gym hard over the upcoming months.

@Nav - Manganiello has more of a dark and brooding look to him, while I wouldn't mind his look for Supes/Clark, I think Cavill can pull it off better with both a fighting bada$$ look like here

as well as not frightening the crap out of little kids like Joe M. would saving their cat from a tree with a comforting and warm appearance like here

How the [frick] is 6'1" short? When average height of men in the US and UK is 5'9". And he is getting training from Gym Jones the people who did the the movie 300 come on people Christian Bale went form The Machinist to playing Batman.
jaysin420
jaysin420 - 4/5/2011, 10:49 AM
This stuff is so dumb, Amy Adams is hot as hell and she still looks 25.

And whoever thinks Cavill ISN'T too small for Superman, check out Reeve's movies and you'll see what he should really look like (or even the Smallville finale).

Routh didn't have the body type either but at least he had the height, and he sounded a lot like Reeve which was cool.

And this guy had to LOSE weight to get those Immortal abs, so he would need to gain that all back and then like another 50 lbs, which isn't happening.
Dmon
Dmon - 4/5/2011, 10:50 AM

LP4
LP4 - 4/5/2011, 10:53 AM
@JaySin420- Yeah...I personally don't want anyone in the film to sound like Reeve. I'd rather this film distance itself from the Reeve-continuity. No more reeve-impersonators, so I'm glad Cavill will be his own Superman identity.
Akercocke
Akercocke - 4/5/2011, 11:05 AM
I liked Manganiello too, but what Trapdinsteel says is true, you need certain warmth for the role. Henry can get bulkier, and about the height, I think it's overrated, at the end of the day, a Kryptonian gets his powers from the Sun, not from being tall. A 5 foot kryptonian would kick anyone's ass the same way a 6'4 guy would, and Cavill is 6'1, I mean he's not, Cudmore but he's not Tom Cruise either!
LP4
LP4 - 4/5/2011, 11:14 AM
@Akercocke- Exactly, you phrased it perfectly!

Superman doesn't need to be "Jolly Green Giant" height. 6'1" is tall enough. We've had tall Supermen in past films and they were god damned wimps no offense. Cavill is promised to be a PHYSICALLY DOMINATING Superman. Him being 3" shorter than the past actors is a lame nitpick on the guy. I'd rather take a 6'1" Superman who KICKS VILLAINS ASSES and crushes military tanks, rather than another 6'4" boring Superman who doesn't even fight.
