To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Superman, fans of the iconic character have been sharing tributes all across social media, and the actor who currently dons the blue 'n red duds as The Man of Steel in the DCEU has followed suit.

Though the three films he's appeared in as Supes have undoubtedly been divisive, most would agree that Henry Cavill has done a terrific job playing the legendary DC hero thus far, and it's great to see that he's just as big a fan as the rest of us.

Check out Cavill's post below, and be sure to share your own Superman stories and tributes with us in the comments.

Cavill is more Superman in real life than he is in the movies. He needs a good director to get his actual personality to shine through the role, instead of Snyder bullshit.

I want Cavill to continue on as Superman for many years.

Cavill under better direction and writing would be the IDEAL SUPERMAN.

The guy oozes it.

@BlackBeltJones - I 100% agree with you. It's frustrating that he's had such bad material to work with and hasn't really had the chance to shine.

Whenever I see a photo of Henry suited up I just see Superman, not an actor in a costume.

@bcom - was re-reading Superman: For Tomorrow a few days ago.

When I saw Supes, I couldn't help but see Cavill.

@BlackBeltJones - I think that DC/WB need to make another Superman movie a priority. He's the DC flagship character but he's not really treated that way in the cinematic universe.

Geoff Johns needs to write the script and they need a director who has a great sense of classic cinema story telling that can give it a modern touch, along the lines of 80's Spielberg.

Patty Jenkins said she channeled Richard Donner's Superman for Wonder Woman and I think it 100% had that feel to it. That is probably why it was as successful as it was. It felt like a classic Superhero movie.

Given the right amount of respect and sticking to the core of the character, a really great epic Superman movie could be a huge blockbuster. The WB execs need to butt out and not try and make the character something he's not.
