Kevin Costner Up For Superman Role

Kevin Costner Up For Superman Role

Deadline is reporting that Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves, JFK, 13 Days) is up for a role in Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise.

"Henry Cavill was recently set in the Man of Steel role," says Deadline's Mike Fleming. "I'm not exactly sure what role Costner is likely to play, but he has certainly been in good guy mode lately. Beyond his performance in the John Wells-directed The Company Men, Costner surfaced as an unlikely hero in aiding the cleanup in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. British Petroleum purchased over 30 centrifuge machines which separate oil from water, technology that was developed with a reported $24 million in funding by the actor over 15 years."

Bottom line is that at this point we have no idea of Costner is being considered in the role of hero or villain for the film. Any thoughts on what character he would be suitable for within the Superman mythos?

Or he could be Pa Kent...

Kevin Costner seems random but still glad they're actually going forward with more castings! :D

I'd say Jonathan Kent.

If he ends up in the film I won't be upset :D he's a good actor in most of the stuff I've seen. But I was expecting I'll admit more of...'unknown castings' for all the roles...but maybe as Nolan said before- he wants big name actors even for the smallest roles.

This Superman film will be unique amongst the rest.

I'm just wondering how long it will take for Snyder to cast ALL the roles and start revealing more about the plot of the film...

it goes into official production in June...

c'mon Snyder! Give us more info!!!! =D

But so far I'm happy- Nolan, Snyder, Cavill AND possibly Costner. All 4 are proven talents. Hopefully every single role in this film will have proven talents involved with it. This is my top favorite upcoming CBM...it's gotta succeed! THIS TIME. lol

He would be great Jonathan Kent.
Perry should be played by Richard Jenkins and Jimmy Olsen should be played by Bret Harrison.

Interesting. He's a great choice for Pa Kent, especially if they're (hopefully) following the "Birthright" storyline.

I can see him as Pa Kent... wonder who's gonna be Ma kent? Annette Bening?

Seriously though, I'm fine with Kevin playing the "dad" role here as Jonathan Kent if this is true. Hopefully, the role won't be as minor as the original Superman film.

Uh what about Jor Al! Kyponeing father.

@JR- Yeah he could be either Jonathan Kent OR Perry White. He sometimes has that "loud-mouthed boss" attitude kinda written on his face which would be great for Perry!

Frank Langella though a good actor was a terrible Perry in SR. Wasn't abrasive enough and didn't smoke a cigar like the character usually does. He was just too 'soft' in the film. And not to mention too TALL, lol. Langella was like 6ft tall and I never remembered Perry White ever being that tall. lol

Hopefully they get Perry right this time.

Michael C. Hall, Patrick Wilson, Jason Isaacs, Ralph Fiennes or Mike Fassbender as Lex Luthor

Paul Bettany as Brainiac

Still kinda think that Ryan McPartlin would have been better choice as Superman.

Awful, casting director must be so far removed from reality. More than the normal "less than one millionth"

No Doomsday. No watch.

I wanna see Superman DIE.

"Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum humans learned that what they can touch, smell, see and hear is less than one millionth of reality"

Even though Superman is my 3rd favorite Comic Book character after Green Lantern and Batman I think with Zack Snyder this could be the best comic book movie ever.
