MAN OF STEEL: Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven officially debunk "Jenny Olsen" and Lex Luthor speculation

Talking to SFX magazine recently, Deborah Snyder cleared the air about the character of "Jenny" in Man of Steel, "She's just a character."

It's been long rumored that the character "Jenny" from MAN OF STEEL is actually a female version of Jimmy Olsen from Superman lore and some have speculated she might be a relative to the famous character. While talking to SFX Mrs Snyder was asked about some of the most ridiculous rumors she had heard before the movie's release and she cites this as one of them.

Charles Roven: “Well, we’ve heard some insane rumours all along the way. I heard a rumour that we had Lex Luthor in the movie and we cut him out of the movie.” [Laughs]

Deborah Snyder: “Or that, we have a character, an intern called Jenny, who was actually Jimmy Olsen! That we had replaced Jimmy Olsen with Jenny. She’s just a character.”

Well there you have it Folks! Jenny is just a made up character. Although why they didn't just hire someone to play Jimmy if that was the case baffles me. Put a dude with a Camera in all of Jenny's scenes (even the one where Lombard is asking her out) and it will not change a thing. I guess that was the point. What do you guys think? Personally, I actually didn't miss the guy in the movie. But that's just me. Sound off in the usual place

Jenny's last name was never Olsen. The character's full name is Jenny Jurwich so everyone needs to calm down.

Looks like the changed their minds because in the Man Of Steel Movie Magazine they said that she was playing Jenny Olsen. The Image Scan From The Magazine Is Below.

Or maybe they made a mistake when they printed it?

I don't Know, It's Confusing as well. I know that there was alot of fan backlash over making a female version of Jimmy Olsen and they worked on the magazine prior to letting the film out. It's very odd that in the end credits scene it's just Jenny and no last name attached to it along with the photo of her badge with the name Jenny Jurwich on it. It's the man of steel superman takes flight movie magazine and it's on the last few pages of the book.

So far I read through most of it and it seems to be pretty accurate. I don't think it was an error and just a last minute change to please the fans.

In the end, she didn't even end up playing a big enough role in the movie to warrant the backlash or attention. Maybe if they had developed her a bit I would have cared about her when she was stuck under the rubble?

What if.... Jenny could secretly be Supergirl? I know that's fan fiction but it'd be such a cool twist to have in the sequel.

That's weird the magazine printed that based on speculation, but her name tag still says Jurwich

Either way, she was completely pointless in the movie.
would have been better if left out entirely
