MAN OF STEEL: General Zod's Chest Emblem Revealed

We've already seen a smaller version of this on some of the merchandise from the movie, but now you can get a nice close-up look at what is apparently the updated chest logo design for General Zod (Michael Shannon). Check it out after the jump..

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

Thanks to Kapow Props. Man Of Steel will be with us June 14th, 2013.

I'm guessing they were going for an Omega feel, but I just see a horseshoe.

In the spirit of making things look more 'alien' I guess it looks pretty good. They could have gone with a better design whilst keeping the alien aesthetic but I do still like this.

A sort of Omega communist sickle horseshoe. Better than the stupid "Z".

But Warner could reveal something official, like an image of Zod and Faora. No cheating! A full body picture, not just Michael Shannon's creepy face.

Its probably a kryptonian Z which I think is sweet! An English Z would have been a bit lame imo since he's beeing freed from the phantom zone and he had the suot before he arrived in earth...

That sign is awful close to the Greek sign omega, except it is upside down, which means "great"
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 2/9/2013, 8:30 AM
It's not a Kryptonian "Z" - unless they change it in the movie - nor is it any alphabet of the Kryptonian language.

Which makes me curious...

It' an alien symbol guys, so its not supposed to be a z or an omega or even a horseshoe(lol). Its like a family seal. An alien one.

I agree with @Froggy its only a coincidence that Kal El's symbol resembles our S, why in the hell would Zod's symbol look like a Z, Thats like lightning striking twice, or a a cold day in hell, or Grif actually responding to someones comment

Zod must be a Rolling Stones fan...it looks like a tongue sticking out with the uvula behind it.

@ Tea - You made me laugh, thanks, bud. I have to go to work after a blizzard, I needed that.

Also, thank Roa its not S for Superman and Z for Zod...always bothered me seeing a Z on Zod's chest.

Also, Snyder created his own Kryptonian alphabet. Could very well be a Z, but Kryptonian.

not for nothing, but they had options.

guess Shannon didn't approve

They have a whole Kryptonian alphabet to get the symbol from. No reason to make up something new here.

But, hey, Zod is a Colts fan. Another reason to hate him.

Superman's shield is not an "S" it is family crest. It just happens to resemble the human "S" hence Lois naming him Superman....wait did Nolan change that too? Apparently Zod's crest looks like a horse shoe....I guess she will call him...Ultraman?
Castle0715
Castle0715 - 2/9/2013, 9:38 AM
It could just be the military crest for krypton
thewolfx
thewolfx - 2/9/2013, 9:43 AM
The smallevill z looks way better then that shit.

Its not a z at all but it fools u to thinkin it is from a far

This symbol is ok but it looks awkward from a design stand point
