The new, origin film of Superman flew off to a blockbuster start yesterday as “Man of Steel” surpassed the industry's all-time opening day record with a nationwide gross of a monumental P69.52-M.

“Man of Steel's” phenomenal debut bested the opening day record previously established only last April by “Iron Man 3” at P62.9-million.

This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc. which distributed the film. “This is a day of reckoning for Superman,” added Soliven. “He's a larger-than-life character beloved by millions of Filipinos, and this was proven today. Fans and families welcomed him back overwhelmingly as evidenced by the long lines, the ubiquitous Superman shirts everywhere, and the cheers at the end of screenings.”

Dominating the over all box-office with a 94 percent share, “Man of Steel” also posted the biggest opening day gross ever for Warner Bros. whose previous best first-day performer was “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” at P28.3-million.

In the final analysis...no matter what the box office take & the stupid critics reviews indicate..it's how YOU,the individual,like or dislike the movie.

DO NOT let influence of that sort sway your judgement.
I cannot for the life of me understand why people consider that bullshit the measure of success.

If you were a producer or studio executive,then the revenue generated by a film is all important but if your just a movie / comic book fan..DECIDE FOR YOURSELF!

Why are ppl obsessed with rotten tomatoes or metacritic. I don't go to see a movie because critics like or dislike. We are individuals who have our own thoughts and opinions and I will go and see a movie thqt interests me and ppl who keep mentioning critic scores are just trolling. No one mentioned when avengers or iron man3 got a terrible review. I like marvel the same as dc, but in the past few days it hqs become obvious on this site that marvel fanboys feel threatened by man of steel it is stupid and childish and personally I am sick and tired of it all. As CBM lovers we all should appreciate that we are at least getting 2 CBMs a year and wait til you see the movie you are dissing before you bad mouth it.

Don' mind the Critics, I've seen the movie and it's very good!!

People complain that he (Clark) doesn't talk a lot. However, they don't consider that he shied away from people because he was afraid someone would find out, thus, it's understandable he does not talk a lot.

I think he will develop "people skills" when he works for the daily planet.

I'M GONNA WATCH IT AGAIN!!! TO HELL WITH THE CRITICS!!!

@TheManofTomorrow
-you're computation is accurate.

i was a part of this. It wasn't a surprise that it will do good since it opened at our independence day. My god, you should have seen the lines. 5 movie theaters and me and my sister were forced to book the regular screening (which was still full)
