MAN OF STEEL Stars Henry Cavill & Russell Crowe Had Scuba Training

Well this is a tad bit unexpected. Why is it that Superman and his daddy needed scuba lessons for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel?

Thanks to Superman: Man of Steel (2013) for making us aware of Below H2O Scuba Diving's new photos with Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill. The scuba company labeled this as training for the Superman movie, but didn't add any information outside of that so we're left guessing. So, what type of scene would need Jor-El and Kal-El to be underwater? I would guess this will be some type of interaction in Superman's home, the Fortress of Solitude. Maybe the water will give the scene a slow-motion alien like effect on the screen?

Man Of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne with Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix, the reboot is slated for theaters June 14th, 2013!

Because swimming is a nice exercise for flying? I remember seeing video of Routh learning to fly in a watertank on the Superman Returns dvd.

Hmmm why would Jor-El be flying/swimming?

I wonder if Michael Shannon went through the same training and it wasn't reported. If so, perhaps there is a special aerial movement they'd like to capture. I dunno

There's no reason for Jor-El to be flying or looking for Aquaman so those two theories are moot.

Think the best theory yet is for a dream effect while Supes talks to daddy in the fortress of solitude. Make it look like they're talking outside our reality.

if it was a special effect shot why not in a pool? The water would be murky as where they seem to be, its obviously something to do with a visible body of water

Well, there's pics of Cavill torn up on an oil rig.
Sounds like they'll bring the fight down to the water. Which could be awesome.

As mentioned, we already saw images of Cavill on an oil rig and why wouldn't Clark Kent/Superman be in water at some point?

Russell Crowe looks bigger (more muscular) than Cavill in those images. Good thing Cavill has his suit.

Maybe just to get the feeling of weightlessness. Routh trained in a pool to practice his motions in flight.
