Man Of Tomorrow Director James Gunn Reveals Whether A Trailer Is Coming Anytime Soon

The first Man of Tomorrow trailer is one of the most highly anticipated sneak peeks in recent memory, but is it coming soon? DC Studios co-CEO and filmmaker James Gunn weighed in at the Clayface premiere.

With Man of Tomorrow shaping up to be DC Studios' first "event" movie, anticipation among DCU fans is high. Rumours are swirling about Batman and Wonder Woman appearing, and the Superman sequel may be Gunn's chance to firmly establish what this world will look like moving forward.

If Man of Tomorrow follows Superman and Supergirl's example, then a trailer should be released in December (likely in front of Dune: Part Three).

However, last December, the Supergirl teaser was completely overshadowed by Avengers: Doomsday and simply couldn't compete with that movie's four teasers. While the MCU blockbuster didn't sink the Woman of Tomorrow at the box office, DC Studios won't want Man of Tomorrow to be eclipsed in the same way when the movie itself arrives in theaters on December 18.

That could explain new comments from DC Studios co-CEO and filmmaker James Gunn. At the Clayface premiere, he was asked if a Man of Tomorrow sneak peek is coming anytime soon and bluntly replied, "No," before walking away laughing.

This doesn't completely close the door on a Man of Tomorrow trailer being with us this year. However, with Josh Goldstine—who oversaw Superman's marketing—now back at Skydance (Paramount Pictures/Warner Bros. Discovery), a different approach is possibly being taken.

Supergirl flopped, and it's currently unclear whether Clayface will find the same level of success as other recent horror hits. With that in mind, DC Studios needs Man of Tomorrow to be one of the summer's biggest movies.

Gunn was in a buoyant mood at the Clayface premiere, but was shocked when a photo of him looking particularly excited went viral on social media.

In Man of Tomorrow, Superman will be forced to team up with Lex Luthor to battle Brainiac, a threat not just to Metropolis but to the entire world.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie stars include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona will also star. However, as we mentioned above, we still don't know whether the latter is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman. There's also speculation that Eva De Dominici is playing one of the characters, and there's always a chance the Diana Prince rumblings don't pan out. We'll have to wait and see.

Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027.

There are no rumors of Batman appearing just Wonder Woman. Why would you even say that? No why they would introduce a new Batman and its not his own movie. Getting folks hyped up only disappointed. Bullcrap...

@krayzeman - I think the other day, someone mentioned that he might make a cameo at the very end. But that said, it was probably in the Josh Wilding article claiming that James Gunn has been purposely sabotaging Matt Reeves. So, there's that.

I wish i enjoyed the first one. I just didn’t for whatever reason. just didn’t like the tone maybe 🤔. Wasn’t terrible, but I can wait for the sequel to be on demand and be fine with that

I mean , soon is relative since we still have a little over 2 months till Dune comes out so for Gunn it could mean November but we’ll see…

Anyway , looking forward to MOT since i thought Superman was solid!!.

"The first Man of Tomorrow trailer is one of the most highly anticipated sneak peeks in recent memory."... Is it though?

We've already seen the majority of characters in other projects. We've seen Lex's battle suit. We've already gotten a sense of the tone and look, from things like Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, Superman and even Supergirl. Sure, we're looking forward to a first look at Brainiac, But even then, we've already seen Peter Capaldi as "The Thinker" and even Chukwudi Iwuji as "The High Evolutionary". So we have a pretty good idea what direction he'll take.

I have no doubt that people are looking forward to seeing it, (I certainly am) but there doesn't actually seem to be anywhere near the same level of anticipation as Doomsday, Spider-man BND, Dune, The Odyssey. The far more vocal people appear to be the skeptics, the ones, anxious to hate this.

Again, I'm hoping for a good trailer for what turns out to be a strong movie, but still... The Hyperbole is strong with this one.

@Patient2670 -true but i feel it’s too early to be that hyped for it since the movie doesn’t come out till July so it wouldn’t have the high level of anticipation that a Dune or Doomsday will have which are a little over 2 months away.

Also , i do think it’s highly anticipated but pretty much every big blockbuster is tbh.

@TheVisionary25 - I don't disagree with any of that. But it also proves my point - it's by no means "the most anticipated sneak peek in recent memory".

@Patient2670 - no , not most anticipated but surely one of.

@TheVisionary25 -Sure. One of the most out of the movies coming out in the next year that hasn't released anything official yet, but certainly not "recent Memory". There have been a ton that had people champing at the bit, (some have been released and some are still coming) far moore than this. I'm not saying it isn't highly anticipated, just nowhere near the top of the list.

I don't see this movie making over 800 million
Feralwookiee
Feralwookiee - 10/15/2026, 12:59 PM
@DannyBrandy20 - The first one barely brought in $600 million, so I don't see this one doing much more than $500 million or so.

@DannyBrandy20 - Agreed. If any of the previous releases from this universe weren't so divisive, it would be a different story. That doesn't mean it can't be good, just that the odds are stacked against its level of financial success.

The goofiest looking Superman ever. But shout out to Gunn for the inclusion. Took a lot of guts to bring the first down syndrome Supes to the big screen.

@TheNewYorkerr - So, what's it like to be a horrible person? I've always wondered. It must be quite liberating on some level, I suppose.
