There have been many representations of Superman on the big and small screen since his creation, with Henry Cavill being the latest to don the iconic suit in 2013's Man of Steel. Rather than include every interpretation (such as the 1950's era serials) I instead went for what I consider to be the best known versions, starting with Christopher Reeve, all the way up to Dean Cain, Tom Welling (even though he barely wore it) Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill. And in a fairly shocking, but extremely close outcome, you decided that it was the suit Cavill will don in the upcoming Zack Snyder directed movie which best represents the iconic superhero. Looks like the lack of red pants don't bother you that much after all...

Henry Cavill

STARRING:

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent
Diane Lane as Martha Kent
Michael Shannon as Zod

RELEASE DATE: June 14th, 2013.

How the hell did Cavill win this? He doesn't even have the red pants?!?!
Superman8
Superman8 - 9/6/2011, 10:52 AM
WRONG!

Top 2 are right, but CHRISTOPHER REEVE IS SUPERMAN.

how can Cavill's suit be the best when his is the farthest away from the way its been for 70 years?

his looks good, but it can't represent Superman the best, when every Superman has had the briefs until now.

ColonelKilgore - 9/6/2011, 10:52 AM
Thats why he won. people hate the red panties

WHAT?? How in the world did Cavill win when his suit (compared to everyone else's) looks the least like Superman's costume from the comics? SMH

Sorry but this is way the frick off. Read the goddamn Poll Question. What suit best represents Superman? The result not even close to being accurate.
Talontd
Talontd - 9/6/2011, 11:01 AM
It has NOTHING to do with the panties, i think most people thought it was time for them to go.....but that suit is TOO DAMN DARK.

SUPES is supposed to be a beacon of light , a shining example of hope, and a symbol that one day we can all be.....better. To each other and ourselves. THAT person should always be the brightest person in the room. BATMAN could wear that new costume and still skulk around in the shadows....thats my problem with it.

I love the design, although an "S" on the cape would have been preferable IMO, and i think SNYDER will knock it out of the park...

...i just wish it were brighter.

How did Tom Welling beat Dean Cain? He never wore the suit.

i do agree with talontd about the darkness of cavill's suit. if there's one thing to complain about, its that.
UltimateMarvel
UltimateMarvel - 9/6/2011, 11:10 AM
The poll is exactly right! Reeve is the classic, but the removal of the red undies is a needed update.
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 11:10 AM
Cavil for the win! Reeve's suit was classic, bit Cavil's new suit is the way to go!

@Talontd: Even if people hated the red undies, Lol, thats what they had to deal with from 1938 up to this year. Just proves how unrealistic some comic fans could be.
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 11:12 AM
@ revloveR It would be nice if they lighten the suit in post production, bit if they don't I am cool with it.

@Sage

Yea, but i think if they polled the 2,519 voters that voted CAVILL, at least 75% of them would say they would prefer the suit with REEVES' colors...
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 9/6/2011, 11:16 AM
SO, people can't read a poll question. Also, Cavill suit misses the mark.

All in all, bad time to be a SUperman fan. between the "Jersey SHore" Superman from JL#1 and WW's bracelets uniform on MoS...
SageMode
SageMode - 9/6/2011, 11:16 AM
@UltimateMarvel & ForceOfLegend: Everyone may like the new suit better, but that was not the question that the poll is based on.

but you have to admit that Cavill's suit looks the LEAST like Superman's prior to the DC 52 Relaunch.
